Just received my first kayfun Lite clone today in the mail (ordered off ebay)...took apart the entire system and boiled it for ten minutes to remove any machine oils from manufacturing...started to begin making a micro coil for it and for some reason I am hung up on getting the leads to fasten down with the screws. Every time I screw them down, the slightest tug will cause them to come loose. I am not sure if this is a common problem (I believe the screws are a tad bit too long and its not allowing the screws to tighten down the lead. I am beyond frustrated at this point and hope I didn't get a defective clone (cost about $45)...is this a common issue with clones? Should i just buy a Genuine KFL or is there a chance I would have the same problem with those? I am 99% certain its not something I am doing wrong as I have watched several videos and none of them seem to have this issue. Any help would be appreciated..I really wanted to start rebuilding, but at this point I dont want to waste anymore money or time...may stick to rebuilding my kanger heads and throw this unit on the classifieds for someone with more experience.

Edit: By the way Im using 28 Kanthal

If you tighten the post screws down without wire under them, is there a gap?

When I attach the wire I give it a partial wrap around the post, and that seems to hold it in there while I tighten the screws. I have no idea if the screws can be too long, but I can see how that would cause problems if it was the case. I do believe you can purchase replacement screws, so that might be worth looking into.

Same problem with the Kayfun clone I had (before I threw the thing in the trash).

The problem is the 2 little screws that hold each end of the wire ... It's not that there too long. It's that there not real flat on the bottom, so the wire just slides right out.

The fix is getting better screws and/or washers to put under the screws. I could not find them locally, so ordering is about your only hope.

There real cheap, but have a minimum shipping fee of $6.00

Are you wrapping the leads around the screw in a clockwise wrap? You can hold a little tension while you tighten the screw. That helps keep them from popping out while tightening. I have heard of some clones having screws that are round on the bottom and that may be your problem. I have 3 KF clones and all work flawlessly (hcigar). Don't give up the KFL is worth working out the kinks.

Thanks for the quick replies! Yes..I do believe these screws are rounded on the bottom. I am following PBusardo method in a clockwise wrap. The damn leads just dont stay put under the screws! I guess I will just get replacement screws for it since I dont want to throw $45 in the garbage...what a pain in the ......should have just gotten a genuine while they were still in stock....appreciate the help...really wanted to get this baby fired up today =(

Why did you throw out the KFL clone? Did the replacement screws solve your issue? Would these screws work?

I just ordered the replacement screws 2 days ago. They have shipped, but I have not received them yet. As far as the screws working ... they certainly should. I think there much better quality screws than the POS screws found in some of these Chinese clones.

Today, I threw the $40 Ebay clone in trash because I could not get it to stop gurgling and flooding ... See my thread about it here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...n-lite-clone-cheapest-place-buy-original.html

I haven't had a problem capturing even 28ga wire in my Tobeco kayfun clone, but my Rocket kayfun clones are a different story....

First, I leave my coil on the drill bit while I'm setting the coil to keep the coil shape while mounting it. I then place my coil where I want it, then make a hook of one lead around one screw to hold the coils position. Flip it around and make a hook around the other screw with the other lead. Once they're hooked, I wrap them around the screw completely once, then tighten the screws down.

Simply a matter of practice.

This is what I would suggest. Try wrapping the wire all the way around each screw in a clockwise direction.

Im going to try that now! Thanks for the tip...I did put an order in for replacement screws, because these ones I have are rounded on the bottom...was hoping I could get away with a KFL+ clone to try out at first before investing in the real thing....not to mention I am under the impression that there isn't much difference in performance of the two...thanks!
