The forum doesn't update in real time, I think the updates happen at around 25 past the hour, so your member title wouldn't change until the next update after you've met the posting requirement
Can't explain the asterisk, it was asked a little while ago in this same forum and I remember theories were presented, but I don't recall if a concrete answer was given
