The good news, he has a second parachute. The bad news, he only has one harness.
Shouldn't his arms be across his chest to prevent things like this?
I jumped with old WWII gear back in the 70's and they teach you to arch your back and spread arms and legs, kind of what he is doing. Looks like his chute failed to release from the pack and left him tethered to the aircraft by the static line.
They teach just that in modern sky diving schools, but I don't see him arching with his chest facing down... looks more like he's sitting on an invisible chair. Still... his chute should have opened.
It looks to me like the static line was under a harness strap. It won't pull the release from that angle. I hope it stayed tangled long enough for him to start climbing back in! I bet he was ribbed about it for the rest of his time in service.
