"Blood is thicker than water" dates back to the 12th Century. The thing about 'covenant' was created in the early 1990s by a social revisionist.
"Curiosity killed the cat" is from Shakespeare's time (don't ask me which play!). The 'satisfaction' part was written by a yellow journalist in the early 1900s.
"Great minds think alike" came into use in the early 1600s. The 'fools' part dates back no further than the late 1800s or early 1900s.
"The early bird catches the worm" first appeared in print in 1670 (John Ray). The mouse/cheese part may be from from an early Disney or Tex Avery cartoon (opinions vary -- so many of them are lost, it's impossible to check), but the oldest definitive use was on Usenet in 1994.
