Speaking of tornadoes in Texas and also in places like Oklahoma:

people around here in Michigan; if we have an F1 people around here in Michigan act like it's the end of the world. Now people down in Oklahoma and Texas when they have an f1 tornado they look at it as if to say, "oh look the cute little tornado." cuz down there, to them, it's like a heavy thunderstorm.

Now f5's? that's another story. they really panic, when they have the f5 down there. but up here in Michigan and it even looks like it's going to have be a tornado, they're out calling the National Guard. not really, but you would think so. [emoji1] [emoji23] [emoji13] [emoji12] [emoji16]

Where I live in Texas (way up in the Panhandle) the tornado sirens going off is an indication that you should go out in your front yard and see if you can see the tornado!

An object which small children used to sit on to reach the dinner table. Well, children in or near big cities. Seem to recall a gag in an old movie where a guest asks for a phone book his or her kid to sit on, and the very rural host picked up their tiny phone book and looks at the guest like they are stupid. Ring a bell with anyone?
