I just finished installing a fused-clapton coil. The wire is a 26-gauge NiCr80 core claptoned with 36-gauge NiCr80.

After installing and dry-firing, its heating perfectly from the inside-out, but there are 3 teeny-tiny hotspots... basically, there are 3 separate clapton wraps that are heating/glowing warmer than the rest... and I cant say that its 3 entire wraps, since I can only see the outside diameter of the coil. I cant seem to get them to heat evenly with the rest. THey are such a small part of the entire coil, and I was wondering if its "good enough" to vape on.

As I said, overall the thing is heating fine, aside from 3 separate little "clapton-links" (dont know what else to call 'em).

I know I was watching some Twisted Messes video, and although I swore it was a fused-clap he was firing, I cant seem to find which vid... but anyway, it wasnt firing exactly perfectly, and he was like, "ehh, thats as good as it's gonna get..." and vaped it or whatever. So I'm thinking a couple dinky hotspots are gonna be alright?

Thanks everyone :D

I've vaped on claptons with tiny hot spots like you describe perfectly fine. Sometimes you just can't seem to get them all out with some builds and as long as it's not bad it'll vape just fine..

The only things you can try is putting your wrapping tool back into coil an jiggling around, tightening posts, pulse and squeeze, or "strum" the coil with a screwdriver or tweezers.

Good luck and vape on.

took long enough!!!... yes, i had done all you listed... i did rewick the thing, and prior, dryfired to dryout water... i tried to jiggle it more, but, nothing. I just chucked it and built some other coils in its place. All good though.

thanks for reply brother : )

No problem.

I've noticed I only have the problem with the hotspots on claptons when the tightness of the wraps or Clapton links is inconsistent (loose in some spots tight in others). Not much you can do but make new ones or deal with it, usually you don't notice while vaping.

For me it's more of a mind issue, if I know it's not perfect I don't wanna vape on it until i fix it.

Literally the exact same thing I was going to suggest. Pulse fire, pinch, rake, repeat. Pulse fire & pinch at the same time if you have ceramic tipped tweezers.
