I found out my kids were vaping, and ended up splitting my atty stash and shipping them out. (The things you do for your kids.) Anyway, I'm using my back-up M401 for a while.

I noticed on a fill up, that the wicking mesh came off the bridge. The bridge is just a bare shiny piece now. Since the atty was still working, I decided to keep on truckin' with it.

2 days now, and it's vapin like a champ with no wick on the bridge.

You saw RjG's pics just today of a 401 atty coil rod? Looks like ceramic. The bridge metal wick pulls juice from the cartridge down below the coil to a stack of a dozen discs piled up in front of the coil cup. With a missing bridge mesh, it should work fine with a drip, but not pull any juice from the cartridge. Do you find that to be true?

No, I actually didn't see the pic's. This just happened to me. But it seems to be working just fine. I'm not dripping, just filling the carts as usual. I just thought I'd use it without the mesh until it went cold, but it's still cookin' along with good vapor. I thought the info. may be helpful to some of the modders.

Thank you, very helpful. So the bridge mesh doesn't seem to be the only way to soak the 'tub'. This gets curiouser and curiouser. If the bridge wick is gone, then the bare bridge clip is the only contact with the liquid in the cartridge. Somehow this allows enough juice to get ahead of the atomizer. Not sure how, but very good info, Jim.
