Wondering if there has been any thought of making a Reo with G-10 or micarta? The layered multi-colored stuff gives a wood grain appearance and is close to indestructible. And there are a lot of colors and patterns such as digi-cam. Of course Carbon Fiber would be the shiznit, but it is more difficult to work with. I prefer g-10 or micarta to aluminium or wood for knife handles, great grip and more resistant to knicks and dings when dropped etc. Surely I'm not the first to suggest this. :2cool:

the idea is a really good one.

first off these materials could only be used as a cover over a Reos mod. Like instead of paint. This would make the mod so what bigger in size.

the body of the mods needs to be some kind of metal because that is the negative part (or ground) of the mod.

If the Reos was make of Micarta or G-10, wires would have to be used to direct the negative ground. sorta, like a Woodville is made.
this is ok, but makes a totally mechanical mod a hybrid mod of sorts.

Like marsos52, a G-10 Reo would have to be wired like the Woodvil is. However, a DOOR made out of it would look Bad AYuss.

For those omnipotent Reo wizards: can a door be made of a non metallic substance, or does it still need metal for a regular Reo to function? 'Cause, I've got ideas...I love me some of the G-10, maybe some carbon fiber, too...And I've gotta guy (Disclaimer, not a vendor/manufacturer. No, I will not give out the name or contact info, just a guy I know that does stuff :rules:) who would do this for me.

yes the door could be any material. but it needs to be thin at the edges to be able to slide thru the tracks in the body.
I doubt g-10 or Micarta can be that thin and hold up.

I was gonna say, you'd be surprised( see supertrunkers post) it is very sturdy and what they make circuit boards from. It is available in copper clad
Copper Clad FR4 PCB Materials | Industrial Laminates & Plastics

Though that does limit colors, unless you laminate it to your outer color of choice. Not that familiar with the design of the reos but I would imagine a piece of copper plate could be screwed or glued to connect the circiut sans wires ?
