June 28, 1969 the Stonewall Rebellion/Riots happened at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village in New York City (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_riots); This event was the catalyst and genesis of the Modern Gay Rights Movement in the United States. As such - June has become the month when Gay Pride is not only recognized, but honored both Nationally and Internationally by the Gay Community at large. To bring awareness to this major event in Gay History, I am having a Contest for the ECF Community for . . . GAY PRIDE MONTH
How to Enter: The Contest will be "Important Moments in Gay History" (Entries would have to include The Event, The Date it Happened and Why It Was Important) and/or "Quotes from Famous Gay People throughout History" (Entries would have to include The Quote, by Whom, and When they lived) . . .
Examples:
Entry #1: Important Moments in Gay History
In 1945 - Upon the liberation of Nazi concentration camps by Allied forces, those interned for homosexuality are not freed, but required to serve out the full term of their sentences.
Entry #2: Important Moments in Gay History
In 1950 - The Mattachine Society, the first sustained American homosexual group, is founded in Los
