Gday from NZ. I am not new to online forums at all but am completely new to vaping. Have been looking at options to cutting back on smoking and had heard about someone who had discovered E-cigs and was cutting back successfully. So I started the research and found out about this whole new world with its products and terminology eg "vaping" etc. I found a retailer and just had a 'Joyetech eGo AIO Box' delivered yesterday. Its considered a starter kit type device and will allow me to try it out without breaking the bank. I am enjoying it so far. This forum will be very useful in helping me learn more about the vaping world. Regards, Harry.

The day I started vaping on an inexpensive vape pen my daily cigs declined from 25 to 5 with no apparent effort and stayed there. That gave me the confidence to buy a more capable device. I dual used intentionally for 6 weeks to get used to vaping. I happened to run out of cigarettes and just didn't buy any more. (A brother of mine was a dual user for 10 months.) Two years later vaping is a superior experience to smoking. I smoked a couple of cigarettes after quitting to demonstrate to friends I'm immune to relapse. After the last demonstration I decided the experience was so unpleasant I won't do that any more.

If you vape you'll smoke less. If you never stop vaping eventually you'll stop smoking.

Welcome @robharry !

Like most others here, I think you've made a wise choice. There are lots of things to read and learn here at ECF, and don't feel alone if you find it overwhelming at times. We've all been there, and will help you as others helped us.

I've got 2 bits of info to share right off:
1) Don't "overload" on buying a single flavor for at least 6 months. As your combustible use declines, your taste buds will begin to revert to their natural state. It's likely that a flavor you enjoyed when you first started vaping will at best not have the same appeal in the not too distant future. Change it up for a while, and keep those taste buds engaged! :D

2) You will likely notice changes in your body, that you may equate to being 'caused' by vaping. Coughing up more phlegm, feeling light headed, changes in bowel habits, etc. The reality is, these changes occur because your body is removing the toxins from combustibles and is basically 'withdrawing' from all of the other chemicals that were present in cigarettes. Stay the course, and push through it! The only real side effect I've ever had from vaping was dry-mouth and vapers tongue.

There's a plethora of info here about both items and vast amounts more.

Again, welcome! Glad you're here and have made the switch!

oh ky rob... *snickers* stay the course and push through it... after your second line in that paragraph...

fyi... some of us have a benny hill sense of humour.

I'd like to say that my online name is because I'm a slippery cuss...but alas, it's only because I'm from KentuckY :D

Not a thing wrong with a Benny Hill sense of humor. Subtlety and state of mind is where it's at! :p
