In the last 10 months or so of owning my REO Grand, I have used low res atty's (1.5 ohm). I seem to consistently be having the same problem in that I can get two, maybe three draws before the atty gets so hot that I get very little vapor (and the atty is too hot to touch). For the most part I have been using HH.357s, but this happens with other brands of attys as well.

I let it cool down for 5 min or so, and then I can get 2 more great draws and then it's too hot again.

I am wondering... should I really be using a 2.0 ohm atty? Or higher?

For reference, I usually vape a 80pg/20vg mix of buttered popcorn and caramel.

Thanks :)

Your statement make me wonder if you are taking long slow, but hard draws. If you do it will burn up the juice faster and you will get a hotter atty. You don't say if you must squonk more juice after that happens.

If you like the hotter vapor you might want to try a 1.8 L.R. atty. A 2.0 is a lot cooler to me. I don't like them at 3.7.

If I draw hard a few times my atty will get really hot. I wait a minute if the vapor drops then squonk. I am good after that. Some atty's it is tough to tell how much juice gets you a good hit and how many hits you can take before vapor goes away.

I am betting you don't keep much juice in your atty.

I'm a pretty big guy and have some big lungs, so I assume I take longer draws than most, and I do have to squonk after about two draws. If there isn't much juice in the atty, it's because it drains back out into the catch cup (but gets sucked back into the atty when I start to draw). Maybe i'll try some cheap 1.8s and 2.0s; the HH.357s are just a tad bit too expensive to experiment around with, lol.

Thanks :)

No, I haven't tried a 306. Will they fit directly into the 510 connection on a REO, or do I need an adapter? Will 501 drip tips fit a 306?

No adapter needed for the 306. But you will need 306 drip tips. I love the 306. They are a little harder to learn than the 510, but can give great vapor and flavor.

my findings are just the opposite, i have had no luck at all with 510 attys but 306s were plug and play. if you get a clear or transparent DT you can see how much juice is in it at all times. also the dry hit on a 306 is nowhere near as bad as a 510 if you run it dry

Question was asked if when the atty gets hot does vapor production go down? Not really for me- my problem is I don't let them rest when they are working so good and I have a tendency to kill them. I sent in my ERA atty along with my VV Reos for Rob to work on them... I'm back to regular attys and I've killed one yesterday and another one today...seems it's the way I am on them. I need to let them rest and cool down or like I said, alternate between Reos to keep the atty from staying hot so long. But when hot, as long as there is juice on the coil, I get great vapor.

HH357's spit. They make a longbarrel or get a longer drip tip. They also run hot on large slow draws. Keep it barley above flooding, dry hit it while you rest it to pull juice back into it from the cup. I like a 1.7 for long, slow draws on the Grand. @1.5 your getting a 9.6-11.7W vape. And I have experienced less vapor at that combination. I get fog machine vapor consistantly and less non-draw time @ 1.7. 8.4-9W works best for me.

Well, I just got a 1.8 Ohm 306 and a drip tip and all I can say is....

WOW!

I have no reservations in saying this really blows away the 1.5 Ohm HH.357's I have been using. Maybe it's just because the 306 is brand new and the HH.357s have lasted me for months, but this 306 just rocks. I'm sold and switching over!

Thanks everyone... now to see if I can sell or trade the brand new HH.357s I had in reserve, lol.
