New to genesis atomizers. I thought I'd seen plenty of tutorial videos but no. I just got my DID and spent (wasted) 4 hours trying to set this thing up. i oxidize my ss mesh like crazy and really concentrated it where the coils would be. id say im pretty damn proficient when it comes to wrapping coils on dripping atomizers (SOOOOO easy in comparison) but holy crap this takes the cake! one of the most frustrating things i've ever tried to do.

no matter much i oxidize or wrap the cleanest coils, i ALWAYS get a hotspot/short right on the first top coil that makes contact with the pos post. am i missing something here? what's the secret to a solid, never-fail genesis set up?

Where the coil connects to the positive post, push it into the coil a bit so it touches the maximum amount before connecting to the post. Also if you pull it tight it creates a hot spot for some reason, i don't really know why maybe someone else does. But i know if you just pull it to it will be fine. A lot of people using agat2 pull it too tight trying to bend the wick and close the gap between the two, and it makes the problem worse.

5 mesh wicks later i DID it!!!

learning points:
- dont wrap the mesh wick too tight and too dense
- if it doesnt hold its shape to fit into the tank opening, trim some mesh of and roll it again. it should fit into the tank hole w/o being squeezed through.
- FOLD the edge of your ss mesh so you wont have tiny little mesh wire causing you shorts
- dont wrap the coil around the mesh wick tightly. keep it kind of "loose" but not loose. almost like its hovering over the mesh ever so slightly

i thought i could apply the micro-coil dripping atomizer technique but for some reason it doesnt work. it should work though so im going to figure that out. but so far 5/4 wrap works pretty well.

Glad it worked! I've had lots of issues with genesis style, the most serious one being not wicking fast enough to supply the burn rate of the coil however I tip it... to a point the liquid already dripping from the wick hole. It was a sub-ohm build btw. So, I gave up. I now drip.

If you do it a little loose, you don't even need to oxidize the mesh. Petar K demonstrated this technique, hence, "Petar K Genesis Build Method". That technique is here at ECF. Just can't find that link.

Again, welcome to the world of genesis vaping. Vape On!

Micro coils work fine on Gennies, i use it on all of mine.

I wouldnt use the "real" Petar K method. He uses a hollow tube of 1 layer of mesh as a wick to minimize wire-wick pressure. This helps you avoid hot spots but the thing cant wick a darn. The only thing you should learn from his method is wrapping the coil around something else first (like a qtip body), install the coil and then install the wick last.

If you think youre ready for another Genny challenge, check out my video on making a much superior mesh wick compared to simply rolled mesh.

(too lazy to post link on ipad... But go to the protank video and then go to my channel i guess...)

You could check out the post about wire rope for wick, supposed to wick really well, and its what I'll be trying if my vamo ever shows up in the mail.
