Kayfun style is what you want, a genesis that didn't leak also wouldn't wick. It's an open reservoir with no vacuum by design. That said I carried a genesis around with me everywhere for years, and as long as I kept to reasonably upright, ie no pockets wide enough it could lay horizontally in them, I had very few incidents.

Ok, so I was actually lumping both x-fun's into the gennies group. But now that I look closer at the design, I see it's very diff...

So, vacuum system? I.e. when you puff, it pulls a little more juice up those "paths" and wicks? But when idle there isn't any open path for the juice to flow? Am I close?

Edit: spent the last few minutes looking at the funs. They don't seem the same at all. Kayfun and Russian have the "paths" that would seem to let juice through if there is suction applied, but Taifun looks like its just a hole in the middle under your coil. Wouldn't the Taifun leak like a sieve if it happened to go horizontal?

Na, Taifun doesn't leak, that bottom hole is for air. Liquid comes in the sides, two holes that the wick either lays against or pokes through. When I say kayfun, I meant any of them: Kayfun, Russian, Taifun, Orchid, Erlkonigen, AGA-T5, AGA-T7, Fogger, etc. I'm sure I have probably forgotten one of the many options. They're all based on the original Kayfun.

I use the AGA T2s and hate the leaking as well. I can say though that they dont leak very bad unless they are just laying on their side for awhile. I use mine on a Provari with 18650 extension cap. I always throw it in my purse in the cell phone pocket. It usually ends up tipping over quite a ways and I have yet to have any leaks that are more then a few drops and that has to be with a full tank. The drops that have leaked always stay inside the cap. It really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I would so be using the kayfun if I didn't LOVE SS mesh wicks so much.

Taifun is a Kayfun style that will work with SS wicks. Just an FYI. It was designed to support them.

Genesis atomizer work by leaking, hence why you tip them to wet the very top of the wick. The other options out there for none leak tanks, not going to say better because it can really be opinions and what a user likes that makes something better. Personally I like Kayfuns, but my friends Gennies work pretty darn good.

I got a russian 91% (basically a kayfun lite), a taifun GT and a simple Genny

Gennys leak, we got that down
russian 91% has a great vape, no leak, but has a 2 parts positive pin that can cause shorts and require to be emptied if you want to change the coil or the wick. it also has a very specific look and require additional $ if you want it to look somewhat different.
taifun GT, to me, has a better vape, no leaks if wicked right, but more importantly, no risks of shorts and can be rewicked or even recoiled without emptying the tank. its big con is that it's a 23mm atty so it won't look flush on many mechs, but on those where it does, it looks great.

... one of those times being on Tapatalk really sucks. So much to type...

Gennies are not designed to leak. Nor is that how they work - by leaking liquids to the coil. Trick is to narrow down the tanks air intake/pressure relief to the point where air gets in but liquids don't get out. Wick needs to be snug in the wick hole to prevent liquids running up its sides.

It's a fine line between not leaking and still wicking. But it only takes a little experimentation. I use nozzles from e-liquid bottles as plugs. That's how easy it can be to leak-proof a gennie.

That being said... The learning curve can be steeper than Kayfuns.

(I'm strictly talking about mesh and/or wire rope wicks. No idea how to leak proof a cotton auto-dripper setup)
