I'm having what I guess would be an issue with SS mesh and taste. I could read posts all day about how the juice flavor is the purest/unaffected by the SS wick vs. cartomizers. I have made a few coils that "worked" they were always finicky until I used the drill bit method. I now know my old coils weren't up to par. I get much less taste with SS vs. carto so I've been trying to figure out what my be my problem. I am using the AGA-S from www.steammonkey.com anybody with any ideas please post.

EDIT: I have been using my own eLiguid Mtn Dew 20% flavoring 70/30 mix. The same juice that blows me away with flavor on my cartos.

I'm sure it's oxidized fine if your not getting hot spots. If you use it all day it should have been broken in by now.
Could it be that I haven't oxidized it enough? I torched it what I believe to be too long if possible. I have been using genesis style for about 3 weeks. I started by not oxidizing enough. How long does it take for a wick to break in on average?

Make sure your air hole is aligned with your wick. Do you get more flavor if you tip it? If so you have a problem with your wick, try using #500 mesh with a solid wick, not a tube.

Is the vapor hot? If the coil is working properly it shouldn't be. Hot vapor means either you have a short or part of the coil is too loose. Take the top cap off and fire it, see if anything is glowing red. It should not be, the red part is what makes it hot.

If the red part is the top coil, it is probably a short. If it's one of the other coils, it's probably too loose.

Try draining the tank and burning off the juice. Once everything is dry see if all the coils are glowing. The bottom one is often finicky but as long as all the others are glowing you should be good. If only the top coils glow try dry burning it a few times, often that will fix it. You may have to lower the voltage, dry burn it, and work your way back up a bit at a time.

Once they are all glowing use your PV to measure the resistance. This way you know what it is supposed to be, and if you have problems later you can check it again. If resistance drops that means you have a short.

Fill the tank back up and make sure none of the coils are glowing. If they are drain the tank and try again.

there is always the chance that you just enjoy cartos more.
i dunno what your doing to have to refill so much though i have a 3 ml tank on one of mine and maybe refill 2 or 3 times in a day when just sitting here on the weekends. and make it through the work day on almost one tank.

sounds like you may be running it too hot and just burning off the fluid,
like the other posts said the airhole needs to be on the wick for best taste also.

I never had the coils turn res until I did the drill but method. When it's wicking fine I don't see red on any unless I hold it for far longer than I would to vape. I'm using a telescope with the kick between 8-9 watts on a 2 ohms wrap. I know that technically the ohms don't matter for wattage settings. I also have a provari that produces the same result. I like my AGA S when it is working. I would say that my coil is probably loose in 2 spots. This happened because after the coil was set up the top but loosened and I had to adjust it. The coil loosened slightly but still doesn't glow red. I know I don't have many posts but I don't believe I'm new enough to not be figuring this out.

i usually dont get full taste until my second tank, after that my wicks are going like smoke stacks and i get a nice tasty vape, some juices dont seem as strong as they do in other devices but i do taste little things in them i didnt in something else. and sometimes its the other way.
I have one juice that tastes like sugary caramel in anything i try it in, and i thought that was the way the juice just was, once i dropped it into a geni i notice the caramel is just a hint on top of the tobacco-y flavor and was surprised at the difference.

like i said you may just be one of the peeps who just really enjoys a good carto better. everyones tastes are different, if they werent we wouldnt have 500 different methods of vaping.
You might want to give a carto tank a try - the flavor of a carto with the tank ability of a geni...

As dumb as it may sound I finally tried one of my "professionally made" juices and the taste is there, so it must be DIY issues with my main vape. I also realized after some thought that the AGA-S only has a 2ml fill, and usually that isn't the usuable amount so I may just be burning through faster because I hadn't thought about that being less than other tanks I have. I do think I was having the typical issues with the coil at first, but all seems well now. Now I just need to figure out how to get my main vape to taste right in this.

I read some threads where there's mention of a combination of too high of a VG content and too tight of a wick doesn't allow the flavoring to wick with the juice, like it is separating or something. I didn't pay close attention to it so I'm not too sure of the specifics, or if it was a valid conclusion. Food for thought though.
