I wonder if mixing Geoff's Black licorice with clove (not kretek) would be good? I know lots of people are hunting for a dajarum black still on these forums. No one makes a good one. And the things that they call Dajarum black cigars (which are really cigs) taste more tobacco now. Which is gross and I don't need to smoke anymore anyway. I know several people in my city looking for this flavor.
looks like you are on the same quest as i. in fact, i'm only getting on the e-cig bandwagon to be able to take a drag on a clove again. i've not had a cig since they were banned.
i smoked a pack of Djarum Blacks about a pack a week before they were banned. (Years ago i was much heavier with them) i've also smoked bali hais, splash, special lights, and Sampoerna Classics, but Blacks were my favorite.
if you search a bit, there's a thread here where someone posted a DIY recipe, if you'd like to take a stab mixing your own.
they had updated their recipe in the thread a couple times, and by the end had been raving that they'd really matched the unique Black flavor. I think they mentioned adding anise. So you may be able to get the ingredients from TV, cut out the tobacco flavor, and have just what you're looking for. (i'm pretty sure i commented in that thread, so if you can't find it searching "clove" or "kretek", search for threads i've posted in)
i'm placing my first order with TV right now, but i'm going to dive in head first and get the Kretek 24mg + a Kretek doubler. i'll start with the lowest nic level mix i can, and ramp up if necessary. i'm in no rush to get re-addicted to nic. but i've read enough positive reviews of this brand so i'm goin' for it.
good luck with your perfect clove quest, and if you have good results, please let me know!
