Figured I'd post my comments on the samples I tried. A video review has already been posted and some folks haven't seemed to appreciate something about it. Not sure if it's the presentation or the content, but... it is what it is. Here's my write-up:
Common to all of these:
- I am not entirely sure why but when the atomizer or cartomizer in use gets to the point of being dry, almost all of these nicquids virtually refused to give a harsh hit. Instead, they all took on a "darker" character or aspect to the taste - some kind of sweet, some kind of nutty - but I had to run an atomizer really dry to get "harsh". If this is intentional, it's a killer "secret weapon"; if not, whatever it is that's being done, keep doing it!
- Almost all except the herbal "finish cool" - almost but not quite like being mildly mentholated. I am almost certain it helps provide better throat hit but I'm not sure it is intentional.
- At 12mg, all of these seemed to "hit" like my normal vapes at 18mg. That being said, they did not seem over-nic'd; I never felt like I was getting too much. It was just a pleasant surprise for a lower nic level than I have tended to prefer.
- Vapor was good to great throughout. Not one of these is a wimp in this department.
Flavors:
Coconut: First flavor tested. Mellow, mild coconut flavor, not overly sweet. As someone else mentioned, I felt a cooling effect to this flavor. Not bad but unexpected. Stable taste from low through medium volt/power. At higher power a "nutty" flavor came out that was rather pleasant, taking this from "just coconut" to "some kind of dessert" territory.
Peach and Mango: Notes on these almost identical. Good, solid fruit flavors. Not too strong, not weak, not overly fake or overly "real". Mellow, velvety and smooth with a slight cool finish. While both have a good flavor neither is particularly unique other than the very mild cooling effect.
Pecan: Strong flavor reminiscent of pecan extract. Very nutty but kind of concentrated. Taste tends to linger a bit in the mouth. Stable flavor from low to medium volts/power. Vaped warmer/higher power the dark/nutty effect kicks in and reminds me of Pecan Sandies. Think this would be a great mixer with sugar cookie/snickerdoodle/waffle flavors but wouldn't be an all-day vape for me by itself.
Bavarian Cream: My favorite of the Bavarian Creams I've tried. Slightly dark and creamy with a bit of a bright note that I initially attributed as "lemony" but in retrospect, this may be combination of the core flavor(s) and the cooling effect. Stable flavor low to mid power, gains a caramel tone vaped very warm.
Oriental Tobacco: Vaped straight I experienced a very strong floral/spice flavor verging on perfume-ish, kind of overwhelming the flavors underneath. Thinned with a bit of PG, even up to 50/50 (making it roughly 75/25 PG/VG) really opened things up. Detected floral, spice, tobacco, something like orange or orange/clove, caramel, what some describe as leather/suede -- just tons going on here. Finishes kind of cool but not sure if that's due to the spiceyness or cooling effect. Exoctic. Lots of fun to vape while changing volts/power, brings out different tastes across the range.
Chill Bill Menthol: Definitely reminds me of a good menthol cigarette, without the burny/ashy taste. Menthol a bit strong for my taste, would like less of that and/or more of the tobacco. But, the flavor as-is is pretty darn accurate. Flavor is pretty stable across different volt/power settings. Menthol gives this a good, satisfying throat hit.
Vostok Menthol: Strongest menthol I've tried. Very much what it says it is - a very cool, very strong menthol. Doesn't seem to be trying to be anything else. Should satisfy any menthol lover.
Orange Slush Menthol: Good orange/orange cream with menthol. Doesn't do "orange slushy" for me, just a bit too much menthol for that (as opposed to just cooling effect). Still, a very good flavor combination that I would not have expected to like.
Mellow Fellow: Zero-nicotine and extremely light throat hit - not really sure it has any. With eyes closed can't really tell if I'm exhaling any vapor. Unspecified fruit flavor (added to cover any herbal harshness) combines to make a smooth interesting flavor mostly reminding me of Ricola but milder. Not meant in a bad way, flavor is interesting and good. Personally noted no real relaxing effect, but imagine it could affect some folks that way.
Standouts for me:
- Bavarian Cream
- Oriental Tobacco
- Chill Bill Menthol
- Orange Slush Menthol
