So I'll be receiving my Kanger either sometime today (3 a/m here) or Tomorrow. Really excited to try something new; to own something new.. but I was wondering, is my setup decent enough to handle the Kanger? Some of you already know I have a VariVolt by TotallyWicked with a 14500 3.7v 800mAh battery.. just making sure I shouldn't run into any problems.

Also wanted to know if anyone has tried TotallyWickeds VariVolt Storm Carto? It's a decent vape and there isn't many problems, but its slightly high maintenance and leaks occasionally because of I don't know what. It's also, if needed, quite tedious to clean. The plastic casing/Rubber insert cause a lot of leakage if not properly 'fastened' after reinstalling the pieces because of how the 'rubber insert' pulls the casing back up when you slide it back on; leaving the casing not flush with the base of the cart. Here are the replacements if anyone needs a reference to what I'm talking about. I know my terminology isn't up to par yet with all of you vape-buffs but I try, heh.

I plan on doing a Noob Review of the Storm soon. I've been trying, but since my iPhone randomly decides not to work it doesn't look like I'm going to get any reviews of anything until I invest in a decent cam. Anyone have any suggestions for affordable cams? Maybe something around 720p res would be nice. Thanks in advance!

Regarding the Protank. It's an excellent Clearo tank with a well-known airy draw. I solved this with an air flow controller and now can customize my draw:

Tank Airflow Controller

Regarding Cartos, I prefer the Boge's to everything else I have tried, particularly the standard like (not the XL's). Last me days of maintenance free great vaping. I use them in a carto tank. Lotsa good videos out there on this. Best to you.

Yes, the protank does have that airy draw - easy draw. I like it as it comes but, some think the easy, airy draw dilutes or mutes flavors so want to make it a bit harder to draw. I don't agree but everyone is different.

I'd agree Boge cartos are it. Tried a slew of them, settled on Boge for reliability, longevity and consistent quality.

The second generation Protank has fixed the airy draw complaint. You can also replace the glass tank on it.

Also, as a side note, Kanger is going to a "one size fits all" concept for the Evod and Protank and will make just one head for both tanks.

i just bought the iclear30 as well as the protank. I gave the protank to one of my co-workers. I did experience the "airy draw" that everyone seems to talk about. For me it wasn't what i was looking for. I honestly don't care for the top coils as they don't wick as consistent as i would like. I am doing the research and i am waiting to try the new protank. I will order it as soon as it comes out!

They've been out for a couple of weeks now. I suspect suppliers and vendors are trying to clear out their old stock before shipping the newer versions.

I hope so. Haven't tried one yet. Should be out any day though, right?

And, yes, I use the heads interchangeably. The only combination that I have found that doesn't work well is the shorter head on the T3. Otherwise, my rebuilds work fine on all their bottom coils.

Yeah just got my Protank in today. Made my slightly not so good light menthol grey matter eliquid taste MUCH better than when I had the stock Storm carto I got with my kit. The airy draw is a nice touch IMO, but I think I honestly could go either or on the airflow. Haven't really had too many experiences with different attys/cartos to say much yet but so far I'm still in the middle about it. All around the Kanger Protank gets a 9/10 from me. Like most reviews I saw the I only really big downfall for it is the non-changeable drip tip. BUT can't wait to see how the v2 is compared to this. That will be my next buy aside from a VAMO v3 or a LavaTube.

I love my Protank but there are a couple of tips I'd recommend.
Firstly, before you use it, give it a very thorough washing out. I found mine had a strong smell of machine oil when I got it and just gave it a quick rinse before I used it. I still found that the first 3 fills tasted of oil and weren't very pleasant, though this lessened over time.
Secondly, I'd already seen some tips on removing one of the 3 wicks to improve the juice flow, so before my first use, I took one of them out. Unfortunately I instantly found there was some leakage, so I replaced the 3rd wick and all was well. I'd advise not taking the 3rd wick out unless you find the flow is too light with thicker juices.

I just got my yesterday. First impression is it is slightly better than the SMOKTECH Artemas I have, mostly because it is just so much easier to take apart and fill.

Taste was meh through the first half a tank, but I added a juice I know had a huge flavor (Peach from myfreedomsmokes) and it is rolling along pretty well. Interested to see once I break it in how it does, but pretty happy so far.

anyone getting DRY HITS on the KANGER PROTANK. i've already replaced the coils(2.4Ω) and the juice. still getting DRY hits. really not happy with this tank.

What mix is your juice? Anything VG % heavy will benefit from removal of 1 of the flavor wicks. Open up the head (ask here if needed, or google) and see how many small flavor wicks you have sitting on top of your coil/main wick. If there are 2 flavor wicks remove 1 and properly place the other on top of the coil again then reassemble it the same way it came apart. This should solve your wicking problem.

*EDIT* This, starting at ~8:50 he discusses flavor wick removal and shows it step by step:

I removed all but one flavor wick in all my Protanks, after watching that video a couple days ago. It was very simple to do. Wiped all the threads down and reassembled. The flavor is so much better than before and no leaks as of yet. Now I'm just waiting to order some v2's. Good luck with your Protanks.

juice is 50/50 mix and. i've tried removing flavor wick and they look really burnt along with the coil. i'm going to look into re-coil them or get new coils and test it out. thanks

I had the pro tank for over 2 months and it is a bit on the airy side and it does give good flavor and vapor. Kinda heavy, but I guess that's what you expect from thick pyrex and metal. It was a few times I had some burnt hits but after taking it apart, cleaning it and a couple dry burns, its been working good for me. I will be getting the new protank 2 soon, after I find the right price :D
