So I went back to cigarettes about 6 months ago and I'm ready to quit. I want to start vaping again, but things have changed so much since I quit. I really need help finding a new tank. I prefer a cool tank, so sub-ohm vaping does not appeal to me, neither does dripping or rebuilding. I have two cartotanks, but they aren't doing it for me anymore. My previous favorite was the protank 2, but I know it isn't really relevant anymore. I desperately need help and I don't know where to start. I have an itaste mvp 2 and will probably upgrade.

Sorry for the wall of text, any help is much appreciated!!!

I will recommend the Aspire Nautilus and Nautilus Mini. Replacement coils come in 1.6 and 1.8 Ohm Kanthal. They have adjustable air flow. Coils are interchangeable between them. Great flavor.

That's all I used before I got into sub-ohm. I still go back to them occasionally, but after using the sub tanks it's like sucking honey through a straw :)

Another good choice is the Eleaf GS Airs. I have been using them for over a year now and am very happy with them. Coils come is 1.5, 1.2 verticals,.15 Ni (for temperature control) and a new 0.75. They are a little airier compared to the Nautilus's, the flavor is great, and the coils last for weeks. Good luck with your journey back into vaping!

1. The Kanger Protank2 & the Kanger Evod2 are two clearomizer stylized tanks that are just as relavant today as they were yesteryear. They are still extremely popular clearomizer styled tanks. You can readily purchase new coil heads for these tanks. In-fact, some of the newer tanks still use the evod coils. The PT2&Evod2 are two great clearomizer tanks and you should have no qualms/issues with purchasing & using these.

2. A-LOT has changed, I know... I moved away from the community a while back & I just returned a week prior to christmas 2015. I must say, I dislike the changes & i could foresee issues with the changes- namely, safety issues, and issues with helping new vapers (and returning vapers, like yourself) to get situated & re-situated. I knew it was going to be much tougher helping new vapers & those coming back, from the clearo days. & from the looks of the new regulated devices (that had somehow jumped from 12-15 max wattage, to 200 max wattage) I could see that safety was going to be a huge issue. I could also see that the new tanks on the market were utilizing coil heads with SUB-OHM COILS and this INFURIATED ME, considering the BASE USER of replacement-coil tanks are mainly vapers whom DO NOT ATTEMPT-TO, NOR WISH-TO LEARN SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR SUB-OHM VAPING. Yes, back when we had the 15w regulated mods, those of us whom wanted a more powerful vape, HAD TO do our research & we had-to use mechanical mods, which just didn't appeal to most vapers whom did-not wish to get into the technical aspects of vaping.

ALAS- Due to the fact that we've now got tanks utilizing SUB-OHM coil-heads- It is now MUCH easier for a NEW vaper (whom is uninformed) to take that sub-ohm 0.3 ohm coil-head, pop it in a tank, and put it in a mechancial mod with a SUB-PAR battery, and wind-up blowing their front teeth out. SURE ENOUGH- There have been more battery failure cases on the news on tv and in the papers. Sure enough, we are seeing a correlation between these new subohm tanks and high wattage regulated mods, and battery failure instances. We are seeing vape mods being demonized on news channels due to these battery failure/venting instances. Yes, the way vaping has evolved has a direct effect on the SAFETY of our community, our new vapers, and our uninformed vapers. This is NOT GOOD in my most humblest of opinions, and I wish things hadn't gone the way they have. But they have.. and we must adapt and adopt new strategies of helping those whom actually ask for help! (that's you!) So, I really do commend you for having come back to the forum to ask for help in finding a good set-up, and more importantly, a SAFE set-up! Very smart & mature of you.

Now then- As for your questions... Are you looking to vape regulated, or mechanical? My guess would-be that you are looking for a good regulated mod along-with a good tank. You say that you are a tootle-poofer (this is a term we now use for those of us more interested in the older technologies, and/or more interested in NEW tanks/technologies that allow us to achieve a cooler vape, but with good throat hit, and moderate vapor production. IE: We tootle-puffers are NOT cloud chasers.. We are NOT competition vapers. We are NOT Mod-Whompers (mod whompers being the term for vapers whom do like a larger cloud)

My recommendations to you would include the following mods/toppers: A. The Subox Mini PV, along-with the Kanger Subtank. This is a great mod/tank combo that anyone invested in vaping would recommend to someone in your situation, looking for what you are looking for. Now, dont get me wrong- The subtank IS a subohm CAPABLE tank, however, if you are a rebuilder, you CAN build a 1+ ohm coil. Alternatively, you could use a subohm coil at a low wattage, which is what I prefer to do when not using a self-build 1+ ohm coil. For instance, you can use a 0.5 ohm coil head, but set your wattage to 8 to 12 watts, which essentially turns that sub-ohm coil head into a coil head that would perform as-if it were a 1 to 2 ohm coil on a mechanical mod.

B. The Evic VTC Mini along-with the Ego-ONE tank. This is probably the most popular medium-wattage-limit mod on the market today, and it is truly an outstanding APV for the price-range. Truly a stupendous mod. I really enjoy the screen. The body is built extremely solid. The battery door magnets beat-out all others. The Ego-ONE tank is a terrific tank that I can highly recommend, as I've had NO issues with it. You CAN buy a 5 pack of rebuildable coil-heads for the ego-ONE tank, as-well... Giving you FIVE rebuildable platforms for the ego-ONE tank, which is unparalleled as-far as it's competition is concerned. (you only get one rebuildable platform with the subtank-mini, although you can buy aftermarket RBA platforms) while you do-not receive these rebuildable coils WITH the ego-ONE tank, they are readily available 4 purchase across the net. I highly recommend buying either the subox-mini+subtank OR evic-mini+ego-ONE combo kits. Alternatively, you could purchase the evic-vtc-mini mod ALONE (without ego-ONE tank) & purchase the subtank mini separately. Many opt for THIS combo simply due to the HIGH popularity of the subtank-mini in comparrison to the lower popularity of the ego-ONE tank. (the ego-ONE tron tank is a different version of the ego-ONE but the differences stop at it's new/different appearance to that of the original ego-ONE tank/kit)

C. I've given you two mod choices & two tank choices, thus far. I shall give you 1 more right now. If you think that you would be interested in expanding into high wattage/sub-ohm vaping, then I can recommend the SnowWolf mods. They are very sleek (as-if modeled-after the iphone!) they are encased in two glass sheets, and you can purchase them in black, or white, and silicone cases are available. Yes, the SnowWolf mods are a fantastic line of devices. The higher-wattage versions will allow for a wide range of vape styles.

Alternatively, you could go for a Joye Cuboid (which will reach 200 watts w/two batteries) a truly interesting mod with a huge following already, considering the recent release. Another mod that many are enjoying these days is the Koopor Mini line, which comes in medium and high wattage limits. The Wismec RX200 is a THREE 18650 battery mod that not-only reaches 200w but also increases battery life tri-fold, should you use the mod at a LOWER wattage, as I would assume you would, considering your self-proclaimed tootle-poof status. Yes, this three battery mod would truly be a joy to use considering the long battery life at low watts. The Tesla Two would be a great secondary mod (or, if you don't mind mods w/no screen, a great AD-APV!) & the TeslaTwo is a personal favorite of mine in terms of simplicity of design- A box with firing button, lol. In-addition to the mods I've listed so far, you can find many, many more haha.... The market is FLUSHED with high-quality mods at LOW prices, due-to the competition. A mod that I have my eye on, is the Vaporesso Target APV with Target Tank- What's neat about this mod, is not-only is it designed like a gun's grip, but the TANK has a CERAMIC (Ccell Head) Coil-Head. I currently own a Target Tank (The name of Vaporesso's Ceramic "Ccell Coil-Head" Tank, and I freaking LOVE mine. The taste is bar-none the CLEANEST and PUREST of ANY TANK, RDA, or Genesis Tank that I have EVER used.... The taste is by-far the BEST I've experienced. So I would highly recommend you do have a look into the Vaporesso Target Tank, & maybe their APV!

So i've given you some APVs and Tanks to think-about. I hope that I've helped you out in some way. I ask that you please do your battery safety read-ups, learn your ohms-law if you're rusty, and be ready to enjoy some truly awesome vaping, because even if you believe you are against the sub-ohm wave, well, you're going to truly ENJOY the new technology in the new tanks and high-wattage regulated mods out today. I promise you that much. So please ENJOY your shopping spree, & please ENJOY the vaping journey!! :D

PS: If you are interested in mechanical mods, I would recommend you have a look at VaporBank as they've got a sale going on where some of their mechanicals are under ten dollars. Also, an Nzonic can be had for under 13 bucks over at Madvapes. As always, Fasttech and AngelEcigs, FocalEcig and all the rest of the chinese-warehouse websites have great pricing on mechanical mods (and regulated mods, & tanks, too) There is also always the Kayfun clones, for a good fools-proof tank. I highly recommend the Kayfun4 and/or you could also have a look at the Tobecco Aqua Clone, which is a truly simplistic RBA-Tank! You'd <3 em!!! And if you are interested, a-lot of innovation in APV design has occurred recently. In-fact, you can get your hands on one of the many new side-by-side mods, which feature a recessed 22mm tank design. These mods allow you to screw your 22mm Tank (ANY 22mm tank) deep down into the side of the mod's body. This means MUCH SHORTER HEIGHT as-compared to mods where you screw the tank into the TOP of the mod. I highly recommend you search-for the "side-by-side mods" thread here on ECF & have a look at all of the side-by-side recessed-tank mods that have hit the market recently and into the past. GREAT design overall!!

Like I said, have fun & ENJOY the vape journey.

I will definitely look into the Eleaf, but I went with a Nautilus Mini and upgraded from an MVP 2.0 to a 3.0. I also picked up ANML's Looper and it's amazing. Thank you so, so much for the suggestions. I also have two cartotanks that need new cartomizers. Hopefully that will keep me for a while. ^_^

Like yourself I myself went back to smoking for a while and finally got sick of smoking, I just started hating paying the prices I was paying for smokes and finally came back to vaping and glad I did. And like you I was left wondering what all this sub ohm stuff was so I bought a 50 watt eLeaf device with a Kanger mini tank and fell in love with it. I had a bunch of the Protank 1 and Evod 2's and they just didn't cut it. But I'm a person that seems to want more out of what ever I'm doing and made the jump to a couple different 200 watt devices and started to build my own coils, I like my coils between 0.2 to 0.4 ohm's because I have become a mod whopper like Plumes.91 says. But I never use a unregulated device because of safety reasons. But I also have a 100 watt eLeaf twin 18650 battery device with an eLeaf Jus2 tank that I take to work and I usally vape it on 28 watts with the air flow wide open and get plenty of clouds and great battery life. Check out some of Phil Bursadeos videos on Taste your juice. He does really good reviews and really tells it like it is with everything he reviews. This is just my 2 cents and glad your back to vaping and good luck in whatever you chose and Vape on brother.

These are very affordable tanks and coils too!
Went from the Mini Protank II to these tanks and have been very happy! :)

I've never used the nautilus, so I can't compare.
I was considering the nautilus prior to switching to the GS Air tanks,
but was deterred by the price of the tank and coils.
That's the only issue I'm having as of now. The coils are quite expensive. I'm just tired of buying a bunch of different tanks. I bought two kanger t3d for different flavors and absolutely hate them. I want to find a tank that I love and buy a handful of backups so I can easily switch flavors, but I want the price to be manageable.

If you're a flavor chaser, you should really consider looking into Kayfuns. There's several versions out now, so I'd pick one that would suit your needs and give it a shot. I've just recently started getting into the sub-ohm tanks/builds, but I discovered Kayfuns early on and used them for years. I still use them now occasionally when I'm solely looking for flavor above all else.

If you've never built a coil before, don't sweat it, Kayfuns are very easy to build simple coils on. That would eventually save you money vs. buying various coil heads.

Best of luck dropping your analog habit!

I've been looking more into rebuilding but don't want to drip. I have absolutely no idea where to start. It's all Greek to me.

There are a ton of great rebuildable tanks on the market to choose from. I like drippers, but that's just a preference. I also use RTA's daily.

If you're the kind of person who learns best visually, I'd highly recommend going to Youtube and checking out some coil videos by people like RiP Trippers and GrimmGreen. Making a macro coil is easy and quick and they both have tutorials on how they do simple builds. After watching those, ask yourself if that's something you'd be relatively comfortable doing yourself. Like drippers, rebuilding isn't for everyone. But it's not rocket science, either. You just need a little bit of patience while getting past the learning curve and a clear understanding about the rebuilding process, which includes everything from battery usage and safety, Ohm's law, and so on. And if you're looking to research, you're already on what's arguably the best forum in the world to do so.
