First a little background information.

Ok, I am by no means a complete noob to vaping. I actually fell off the vaping wagon about the time people were filling their 510 carts with that blue foam that's used to filter fish tanks and tea bags (yeah, it was a while ago - anything to increase the amount of juice we could put in a cart).

So now I'm looking to get back into vaping for good. The cigarettes are really tearing my lungs apart and when I was vaping they felt great so I need to make a move. I plan on making some purchases and really need your advice on some things.

With that said, there have been some major developments in eCig technology and I'm needing a bit of help to get caught up. (Below you will find an outline to my questions)

I'm looking to get a mod. Specifically the Silver Bullet from AltSmoke. I had a BB from them and was extremely happy with it until it was stolen. I love the price and you can't argue with the quality.

So, without further ado, here's my list of "re-noobed" questions.

Mods: Silver Bullet (Pretty dead set on getting this)
  • Is there anything out there for the price that is comparable?
  • What tanks won't work with it?
Tanks: (So excited about tanks!!!)
  • I plan on getting a tank so which one, in your opinion, is the best? (pros v cons)
    • J-Tank: I like that it's 19.95, a real snug fit, and works with the Silver Bullet.
    • The 510 MAP-Tank: Lots of buzz and seems to be the favorite.
    • The Liquinator: Again, lots of buzz and very popular.
    • AltSmoke Tank: At that price, it seems almost too good to be true.
FluXomizor: (and clones)
  • Are they worth it, especially since I'll be getting a tank?
  • Do I have to keep buying FluXomizors like I did with atomizers? (That could get really expensive) Or can they be cleaned and resused?
Dual Coil:
  • Pleas just explain how a dual coil cartomizer differs from a regular old cartomizer. Obviously it has "dual coils" but why do I care and how does this improve vaping?
So that's pretty much it. My major concern lies with the tanks and the cartomizer questions.

Welcome back! Advances in vaping technology since you and I started should help you stay on the wagon this time around.

The Silver Bullet is a classic. The fact that it still is so popular is a tribute to its quality and styling. There are plenty of other alternatives, but there is no compelling reason for you not to stick with what you are "dead set on."

I share your excitement about these cartomizer-surrounding tanks. [Not those small fillerless cartridges that also are called "tanks."] So many different suppliers carry them these days and, from what I've read, most are very effective. I have a rather pricey ($45) VPX Cartomator Cartomizer Stainless Steel Tank (3ml capacity size) from NHaler, which I received as a gift. It is wonderful and the stainless steel caps look great on my Empire Mod ... as it would on the Silver Bullet. But I also just purchased what may be the same black delrin cap 6ml tank that you spotted on AltSmoke. I got mine from SmokTek, partly because they sell prepunched cartomizers of various resistance levels (which I want to try out on my other Christmas gift to self: Vocanoecig's VV Lavatube). Those are just two examples.

I've never used the GotVapes FLüXOMIZER, because I don't like the CE2 cartomizers – pain in the tuchis to fill IMO. Most tanks are designed around either the Boge regular-sized carto or the Smok Tech XL Dual Coil carto, not the FLüXOMIZER ... although Clouds of Vapor's MAP Tank is based on that CE2 style cartomizer I don't like. [NOTE: COV's DCT MAP Tank is dual coil based ... as is the tank that GotVapes sells.]

Dual Coil cartomizers have, as the name suggests, two coils. Most often, each coil is 3.2 ohms, delivering a net resistance claimed as 1.6 (or 1.5) ohms. My subjective experience of them does not support that claim, e.g., they don't hit as hard as the 1.7 ohm single coil cartomizers from the same manufacturer (Smok Tech). What they are: are amazingly flexible, used with success on 3.7V up to 5V. [I prefer them at ~4.4V.] You likely will be very pleased with them, e.g., used with a tank on a 3.7V Silver Bullet.

Enjoy your renewed adventure!
