Getting More Hits From an RDA

Hey everyone. I've recently started dripping and building my own coils. I'm currently using an ipv v2 and an Igo-W atty. My coils have been turning out great but I have a feeling I'm not wicking properly. I know that the Igo is small in comparison to other RDAs but I can't seem to get more than 3 or maybe 4 good hits before I taste cotton. I've heard from other people that they can get around 10 good hits before having to redrip.

I'm using a dual micro coil setup at 1.2 ohms with organic cotton.

Just looking for some advice on how to maximize the number of hits I can take before redripping. Also wicking advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

How many drops of e-liquid are you putting on your wick? The wick should be amply "soaked", and I usually intentionally squirt some extra juice into the juice well so that the wicks have something to suck up when they start to get dry. Doing this, I can often get anywhere from 10-20 solid pulls before I start noticing the wick drying out. In total, I usually put about 12 or 13 drops on my wick. If it's a fresh wick, it needs a good soaking of at least 20-30 drops of e-liquid.

How much wicking material are you using? I personally use less wicking material than the average bear, but I've found that less wick, packed in nice and loosely, results in the best vape (for me).

I'm not entirely sure how many drops I'm using. But i do make sure the cotton is completely soaked.

As for how much cotton I'm using, im not sure exactly how to describe the amount. Within the coil, the cotton is not super tight but not loose either. In total, the wick for each coil is probably less than an inch long. Once I thread the cotton through the coil, I trim it so it's just slightly longer than the width of the atty, then I tuck.

Hmm... It doesn't SOUND like you're doing anything wrong...

When you drip, do you let some juice pool up in the well?

The Ego-W has a bit of a lip on the deck. You should be placing the coils high enough so they are in front of the air holes. That means you can drip enough juice onto the deck to pretty much fill it to the top of that lip. That should give you more hits without flooding the coils.

I used a Trident RDA a lot for a few months and I used to put in about 15 drops. The juice level probably went over the lip on that RDA, but it didn't leak because the O-ring made a god seal.

Yes. I actually fill it up to the point where I'm afraid it might overflow.

Yes I do fill it so the juice is right at the lip. And yes, I learned early on to align the coils with airholes.

Thanks for the replies.

IMO you're doing everything you can then.

I typically use a Reo bottom feeder these days. You squeeze the juice bottle, it's called squonking, to get juice into the RDA. I squonk after every hit. That keeps the wicks properly wet and every drag the same. It is much easier than carrying a separate bottle too, but it's not for everyone :)

What wattage are you vaping at? st 50 watts on my iPV2 i can only get 5 maybe 6 pulls if they are 1-2 second drags. anything longer than that and I am re dripping every 2 or 3 hits

Oh wow I failed to notice that he's using an IPV2.

If your wattage is set at max or something like that, it'd be a pretty damn good explanation for your wicks drying out so quick.
