Hello there,

I've recently purchased this set off an online vendor and was wondering how come I don't get much more smoke off of it than an E-Go e-cigarette. Is there any way, apart from turning up the wattage to get more vapour from this set? I've also tried lung inhaling, really wrecks my throat. I vape my own 30PG/70VG tobacco flavoured liquid, usually at 15w. I've got a 0.15ohm coil installed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The GS Air's 0.15ohm coil is for TC (Temperature Control). Set that iStick40 to TC mode by long-pressing the oval button between the up/down arrows. When the display changes from Watts to Degrees, use the arrow buttons to change the temperature (possibly start out at 380 or 400F).

Screw in your tank while at room temperature, and check the ohm reading. Press the up-arrow and fire buttons simultaneously to lock the resistance setting here. Give it a vape. Better? Play with the temperature a bit if you want.

I am also a MTL vaper who just today ventured into TC vaping.

I am finding I can't have the temp too high or it hits like a brick.

Set it too low and it hits the temp protect mode and not much vapor.

You have to find your sweet spot and also remember that passing air over the coil cools it.

I have to draw pretty hard (still MTL) to keep the coil cool at my lower setting.

milesian...there are 2 "types" of vapers....

"analog convert vapers"...who do MTL (Mouth To Lung) hits...("tootle puffers")...who aim to recreate the experience/"fun" of smoking...who use low Watts and high Ω's.

"hobby vapers" ...who do DTL (Direct To Lung) hits...("cloud chasers")...who want to fill the room with vapor...who use high Watts and low Ω's.

Me...I loved smoking...and after my first vape I tossed my analogs...and now love vaping ("tootle puffer").

My GS Tanks came with 0.15Ω heads...(which I put in my "back-up drawer"). I use the 1.5Ω heads (which I purchased separately).

My iStick-TC40W...I only use in Power Mode (ie.VW)...I start at 7Watts...then move up til I get the taste/throat hit/amount of vapor that I like (usually end around 10W to 12W).

So...my suggestion...get some 1.5Ω coils, use your iStick-TC40W in VW Mode and stick with MTL.

Then...when you're quite satisfied with "analog convert vaping"...you can think about playing around with DTL, 0.15Ω coils and the TC Modes on your iStick-TC40W...(and think of entering a "Cloud Contest" at your local B&M).

thanks for the feedback guys! i'm also getting a bad cough every time i get the vapour into my lungs, somewhere around the top of the throat... has anybody had this problem?
Which coil are you using?
  • Are you running in power or temp control mode?
  • If power mode, what wattage are you running at?
  • If temp control mode, what are your settings?
  • What is the mg of nicotine you are using?

  • Power mode
  • 15w
  • 12mg nicotine
The 0.15Ω coil is a nickel coil. You can only run nickel coils in temp control mode. See post #2 above. @man00ver gave you some instructions. GIve it a try.

If it doesn't work, your coil may need to be replaced because you were running in the wrong mode.
