I'm the Stig's vaping Filipino cousin ...

Some say he lives in a tree, and that his sweat can be used to clean precious metals. All we know, is he's called the Stig's vaping Filipino cousin.

Imeo, there's not a cook on the planet who's learned everything. we're always looking for new recipes to expand our range.

Very, very true. I specialize in Thai, Italian and Mid East cooking. Went vegitarian for health reasons @ 6 months ago, now meat doesn't taste good to me anymore. lol Have invented bacon flavored tofu. I couldn't not eat bacon ever again. lol Still have my old recipies, just have to figure out how to make them all veggie an seafood based(I'm a pescaterian now).

Hhm, I'll have to check them out. I'm in the valley, bit of a hike but not too bad. There is a Vietnamese restaurant here in the Valley that is just incredible! Can't remember the name, but the serve Buddah food: looks like meat, tastes like meat, but it is totally veggie based. Very cool stuff. I recently got a Buddah food cookbook, looking forward to getting into making it myself.

Happy Family also has this salmon/fish fillet thats totally awesome but its all tofu on a black bean sauce...

Another thing is if your a vegetarian ... You should visit a buddhis temple on sundays ( I'm not buddhis... I just go with my buddhis friend and enjoy some of their good vegetable dishes ) ... They feed everyone awesome vegetables and rice and they dont expect anyone to pay but I always leave a $20 to $40 dollar donation ...

Yep, have to get the Buddhist temple one of these days. Another great restaurant is Inn Of The Seventh Ray off of Topanga Canyon, in the canyon. BEAUTIFUL out door dining next to a stream with wildlife to watch while you eat. They are not a vegan restaurant, bet they have a great selection of vegan dishes. The crispy vegan duck is purely UNBELIEVABLE! Was kind of odd though, eating crispy vegan duck while watching an actuall duck family eating. lol That is one fine restaurant, all organic and freerange. Abd great tasting high quality dishes for a reasonable price.

my main focus is American cuisine...seems simple, but there's a lot to it. though i'm curious...what the hell is vegan duck???

It looks like duck, tastes more like fried chicken, but REALLY GOOD fried chicken. Like the best I've ever had. But it is made out of soy and wheat gluten. It even has a fiberous texture to it to make it more meat like. If someone just handed you some to eat, you wouldn't know it was veggie based. Vegan ham is pretty good too. I've given people vegan ham to try, and they loved it. Couldn't believe it was veggie. I also perfected a recipe for veggie Gyros(Imeo? You reading? lol). Everyone who has tried it loves it. I am really into the Bhuddah food idea of getting the taste and look of a meat dish, but it is a healthyn eco friendly alternative.

Another reason for me to go vegitarian is I hate that they are mistreating animals in the mass production farms. And free range is too expensive. Also, the problem with hormones and antibiotics in domestic farm animals is horridly bad. And now there are GMO animals to worry about. PM me if you are interested in more info...I don't want to hijack this thread anymore.

i'm gonna have to try that, thudd. that kinda sounds tasty...

Really good stuff. Don't know where you would find any in MI, but you might look for an Asian supermarket. They often times sell Bhudda food. Sometimes frozen, sometimes not. BTW, I think the "duck" was cut in to strips, lightly floured and deep fried. Yumm Yumm.

If your ever in the LA area, you must check out Inn of the Seventh Ray. Beautifull restaurant in the canyons.
