believe me i know it does not have sense but i'm
trying right now and mine brass rethreater won't screw on new nickel tank.
I got 1 turn and than it stop. I rather wouldn't force him cause i
got 2 new nickel rethreaters which screw on just fine.

Now when i'm looking close my old brass rethreater got some bad
threads on top. I think that's the problem.

If "bad" as in bent or flattened, take a brand new box cutter/utility knife blade like this:

start where the threads are good and rock the sharp side of the blade into the messed up area. Rock a bit back and forth and move forward into the adjoining bad thread area. Rock and move forward....repeat until you get to the end of the threads. It will straighten and actually cut into the brass and produce a better shaped thread. Then, put some Noalox on the thread and screw into the tank a bit at a time. Between the two processes, you'll shape up the bad threads so it will screw into the receptor w/o binding and messing up the tank threads. I've done this many many times with screws that get cross threaded; unless the threads are REALLY bad, it works them back to life. Just remember, the smallest and softest metal will be what moves first.......
