After watching all the video and getting some additional help here I am mastering my GGTS and getting far more consistent results, so thank you all. :)

I now have some more questions concerning flavors and methods-
To begin, Flavor.
When I start vaping a given juice the flavor is usually good and strong; by the end of the tank it usually SEEMS flavorless. Any ideas here? Is it my taste buds getting used to it, or heat slowly cooking the flavor out or something?

Next question:
I tried cartos and have to say that they make things EASY as far as filling, but at 6 volts the vape is HOT and I do start getting the taste of burning filling before too long.
The flavor was pretty good up until the carto filling kicked in too.

I tried a slightly larger hole, I tried adding more holes one at a time, stopping at 4 holes.
The carto just doesn't wick juice in fast enough for my vaping tendencies- at least not at 6 volts.
I did try with 3.7 volts and the vapor production was down and flavor a bit weaker- Acceptable, but I am sure it could be better. No burning carto though.
I saw one video with a way to cut down to 5v with a resistor but for the life of me I can not find it again.

Any suggestions on either of these?

Roger,
Welcome to this addiction called "GG".. Hold on IMEO is gonna take ya for one hell of a ride.... I am pretty new on the AVS but here are my feelings:

1. It is more then likely your taste buds dulling a bit after a constant vaping of 5ml. Mine does the same. I only know this because I will pawn it off to my Fiance' and ask her if she thinks it tastes crappy (no not cappy) and she loves the flavor at the end. You have to remember there are flavorings that stick to your tongue. Think about it. Bars make fotunes on people drinking. After a couple of vodka and cranberries or rum and cokes you start to dull to the taste of the liquor. The amount of liquor can eventually be 1/2 and you will not be able to taste the difference.

2. CARTO's SUCK. Go with the new 510 connector for the AVS that IMEO came up with. Cappy had a great idea and IMEO made it better. There are some people on here who swear by carto's in the AVS but I can pick out the burning filler in a second. On a regular MOD with a drip tip I love carto's. I can get one to last me 2-3 weeks. As for the AVS...... The 510 atty with 510 connector at 6.0v or 7.4 volts are the only way to go... Adding more holes will not help with the flavor or the juice...

3. The video your referring to is on youtube.com and it was done by the man they call "ocappytan" the video can be found here YouTube - gg 5v update 2 3.7 18650 battery subscribe to his video's.. You can learn a lot from him....

Hope this lil bit helps... Keep vaping away... And good luck

Excellent.

Thanks for the response, man.

I like how cartos make it braindead easy to fill and not have any issues, but burning poly is bad.
I may have to dig around and see what resistors I have on hand from past projects to try 5v out.

I think I will try the 510 connector, eventually, but none are in stock.
Plus- I gotta send out the money for a backup tomorrow, so funds are.... tight. (On workmen's comp.)

any advice on why i cant get the juice to stop leaking from the control ring? im using a 901 atty in a afsv2.

The only times I have had this issue are when I did not have the ring fully closed when I filled the tank on my AVS. Collector tank filled up and juice leaked from the ring. Note that I have an AVS not AFSv2 and I do not know what differences may exist in usage, if any.

I have gotten into the habit of filling with the tank on and then removing it and checking the collector- if any juice is in there I remove it (with syringe if needed), reinstall the tank and if there was a LOT of juice in the collector, top it off.
As long as the cr ring is fully closed I get little or no juice in the collector tank.

Dave, when running the AFS why are you opening the ring up that much anyway, (just wondering) when running mine I always have only just cracked the seal of my CR and it has always ran best lke this and rarely have I ever had a leak, only when I'm messing with it and open it all the way up have I ever had a leak issue and I dont ever see a reason to open the CR like this, can you explain a little bit more on your use of the product and why, when, your leaking please

i do keep the ring fully closed when im filling or when im not using. the problem i am having is that if i dont close the ring the second im done taking a hit, it starts to leak and is kind of a pain in the .....

rogerdugans, could possibly be correct, shouldn't really matter on the viscosity of the juice, you should be able to run straight PG if you want, hook up a new O-Ring and see what happens, heck even take the one out now on yours, run it oner hot water give the CR a really good cleaning then wash that o ring really good, and heat it up with the hair dryer really good, maybe it will help to shrink it up back to its original condition, can't hurt to try this

Bristow, Ok.
My only leaking issues I have had was because of a carto or attie that didn't screw on tight enough. I am using the 510s from Rob with an adapter in the tank. I have always used 6V but now I use 3.7 when the carto is new then when it gets sluggish I use 6V for a few more days. I haven't tried a lot of carto. I only order from Rob.

Some times I need to screw my GG too hard to make contact with batteries... Because of this, some of my batteries are having an injured pole ... So I am using magnet earths between batteries (for 2 batteries use 3 magnets) ... I think that I have a better contact with this tip .. Also I sand the poles of the batteries and the performance is brilliant !!! (someone wrote this tip but I dont remember his name right now) :) :) :)

ggero, I'm with you! I was having AVS issues a couple of weeks ago and found that the only way to get it to work every time was screw the GG together TOO tight. When I got home from my latest business trip I took ever single piece of my GGTS and AVS apart and cleaned them. I mean I took every O-ring out and used the polishing wheel and cream on every metal piece. Still, the AVS only works if the GGTS is super tight, to the point that my batteries are showing bad signs. I like the idea of using the spacer, haven't thought of that. I may have to try it or I'll be going through batteries faster than atomizers.

One of the few smart things I did was to pick up a 3-pack of rubber erasers at the office supply store.
Great for cleaning electrical contacts.

(Old hobby railroad trick I have also used with computer parts as well as my GGTS.)

ETA:

I have learned a few new things since I started this thread and while they may not hold true for everyone, or even me forever (tastes change after all) I am going to post them in the case that it does.

I do not like VG much.
Most of my juices have been PG-based and I have recently been trying a lot of different ones- anything with a high concentration of VG tastes/feels "fluffy" and nasty at 6 volts.
At 3.7 I find 50/50 tolerable but still not great.

Additionally- high % VG juices don't seem to leak as much but they also don't flow as well as PG. Thicker.

I will be messing about a bit in the future with this, but I don't expect to be vaping much in the way of VG.

Also- I finally have a decent backup PV- #157 GGTS/w AVS
Never without a vape again. :)
