so a imr 18650 would be more ideal than two imr 17340? sorry for all the noob questios

Since you are starting new, Don't stack battery, i have been vaping for 2 years and I never stack. Better be safe. Get the 18650 AW IMR. What PV do you have anyway?

EDIT: OK i just saw you want to buy batteries before you get GGTS. In this case, you can get all AW IMR Sizes. However for low ohms like 0.7 ~ 1.2 I would advise a big one like AW 18650. But make sure to get smaller as well if you want to use with kick. GGTS can accommodate all sizes. For example I have 2x 18650, 3 x 18490, and 3 x 18350. All AW IMR.

yeah i have aw imr 18350, 18490, and a buddy of mine gave me a ncr18650(think its a panasonic) which im not to fond with yet, seems like it would better suit a vv mod. but i get the best performance using aw imr. stacking 2 batts is something i only tried once, just make sure you size your coil to the voltage your going to use

id like to try 4.2v batts, anyone have any recommendations?

4.2 is the voltage that a "3.7 volt" lithium battery is when it's fresh off the charger, so I'm not sure what you're looking for. There are some 4.8 volt NiMH batteries that are 18650 sized if that's what you're thinking of, CoV might still carry them (I haven't looked recently), but I've heard mixed opinions on them

I tried them long ago but battery life sucked IMHO. And the charger I had was terrible as well. Still hoping VIR or at least proteus electrics for GGTS will be out soon.

these 4,8 volt batteries are a pack of 2 stacked batteries Jeff, so you have to stack batteries in one or another way. But I never found a problem with stacked batteries. I use them very often
yeah thats what i meant to say. im thinking about a higher voltage without having to stack batteries

Actually, they are 4 stacked batteries ;-) NiMH is 1.2 volts, typically, and there are 4 really small cells stacked in those. That's why the mAh capacity on them is so low. Never tried them myself because they just wouldn't last long enough for the way I vape

Jeff, two things you could look into if you haven't already are the Kick and the Crown. I know the Kick is a little temperamental in a GGTS, but I use it fairly often. The Crown is recently released from Artisan Vaping, a handful of vendors are carrying it now. I'm not sure if it will work better or not, price point is about the same as a Kick
