The one reason that I didnt make it from steel is because I cant make the button cap from steel. So the front cap has to much the button cap. The result is a front and a back button made from brass. The other reason is that brass looks like gold when its polished if you agree Kc. I like this classy look. I am almost sure that you like it too but you have to clean it often, thats true:)

The SS GGTS seems to be maintenance free...except for the top and bottom caps...and of course vaseline on the threads.

I have a SS ggts and cleaning need to be done too. Some useful help i got from the rest, using a microfiber cloth to wipe, light scratches can be remove with 4/0 steel wool and sharkhide polish. But don't over do it.

That is because of the specific properties of SS. However, it still is not maintenance free. It just takes much longer before the finish gets ruffed up. It is a hard alloy and does not show scratches as easily.

Yup, can't wait to change my SS telescope and button to brass too since my two ends are in brass. :)

yes chrome can be done very easy on brass. Brass is the perfect metal for chrome-plate proccedure Kc.
I made the previous GGTS nickel and not chrome because chrome will break easier than nickel if GGTS falls down to the floor. But chrome tarnish later than nickel
