Hello ECF Community!
Just wanted to take a quick second and introduce myself a bit. I've been vaping for a while, almost a year now that I think about it, but I know still have a lot of things to learn about. I started out with a little ego style pen and later moved onto the Kanger Subox Mini Starter Kit for another few months. My current set up right now is the blue Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC with a white Playboy Vixen tank. I don't find myself buying any other mods anytime soon but I'm debating on switching over to drippers or stick with tanks(might compromise and go with the Avocado RTA).
I do have a question, which is part of the reason how I stumbled upon this big community.

After an agonizing 3 day wait, I finally got my Playboy Vixen tank in the mail. It came with a standard Playboy .5 ohm coil and a single NI200 coil for the temperature control feature. A few weeks has gone by and I found myself scarce of coils. My friends introduced me to this one vape shop, stating how their products were cheaper than the one I've been going to. To my amaze, they actually carried the standard Playboy coils. Even though they had great prices and sold manufactured playboy coils, I still go to my usual vape shop because I'm familiar with the employees there. Sadly they do not carry the playboy coils BUT a nice thing about the Playboy Vixen tank is that it's also compatible with Atlantis, Triton, and Herakles tanks. The problem is that an Aspire Atlantis coil and Playboy Vixen coil have different wattage range placed on their coils. For example, a .5 ohm on a Playboy Vixen coil states that it could be vaped between 30-70 watts while a .5 ohm Atlantis coil could only vape between 20-30 watts. A .1 ohm Playboy Vixen ranged between 50-150 watts while an Atlantis coil range between 50-60 watts. Does the wattage capability depend on the mod or the coil from the different companies. I've bought a few coils without noticing this so please no answer about how I should've just bought a standard Playboy Vixen coil to put in my Playboy Vixen tank.

*Note: Before I made this post, I was vaping between 35-40 watts on the Atlantis coils and haven't noticed any effects or burnt from the coils. I'm just going to play it safe and stop vaping until I can get some more information.*

Thank you and I can't wait to talk to you all!

Hello and welcome to the forum @Wodrom. Glad to have you here!:)

The wattage ranges printed on the coil are just the manufacturers suggested operating range for that coil. These are not "hard" numbers. You can vape "lower/higher" if you want.

The rule of thumb for EVERY vape device you'll ever own is the same (when running in power or wattage/voltage mode). Turn your voltage/wattage down, take a few hits, bump it up, couple more hits. Repeat until you find your "sweet spot". If it starts to taste funny, gets too hot or tastes burnt, back it down. Different flavors will have different sweet spots so you just have to experiment

Thank you very much! Understanding what you've said now ease my mind a little bit more, haha.

Hi and welcome. The difference can be the type and gauge of wire used in making the coil, as well as the type of wick. Some wires will carry more current than others, and some wicks can tolerate higher temperatures without burning. Bear in mind also, the wattage ratings are an approximation and more like guidelines than absolute prohibitions. In general, if you run a coil above it's specified wattage it will probably go out sooner than it should, but it won't necessarily be catastrophe. Running it lower than the specified watts won't hurt it, but it might not make much vapor. BTW, there's nothing wrong with using both tanks and drippers, ans switching back and forth as you like :)
