I have a SnP v2 tank. Inside dia of glass is 19mm and outside is 23mm. Do any of IbTanked glass fit my SnP? So tired of breaking the ones they sell with it. I have had this tank since March and went through 4 glass tubes so far. They seem brittle and break on the edges. Never broke any of my 3 Ibtank tubes I own.

You might want to look into a custom cut for these tanks. The supplied ones from the manufacturer are very easy to break. Cant imagine I am the only one. Like I said, never broke one of your tubes. Broke 4 of these since March.

On another note. the 22mm x 1.5 I am willing to take a try at. These are your custom cut tubes right? If so I'll get on and order a few and see how they work. It's worth a try for me.

Thanks for your response.

Yes, we have many sizes under custom cut to length. I would like to add them to our "Other Tank Tubes" but we would have to verify the size and fit before we can add them there.

We so often run into issues like with the Kracken or Steam Turbine where the design did not allow for tolerance in the glass so while one piece of glass will work fine one cut from the next tube in the same case will not. Most glass from quality suppliers have a manufacturer tolerance of 0.2 to 0.4mm on the wall thickness which along with the OD tolerance can vary the ID quite a lot. We have found though the glass we use is most often within 0.15mm +- on the ID and this is plenty close enough for a good seal on a 1.5mm oring. If designers would make sure no metal part that is meant to go into the glass is -0.15mm of the nominal size of the glass they intend to use their customers would be much better served.

If you have calipers you could measure the metal part of the cap that inserts into the tube, for a 19mm ID glass it should be about 18.85mm. Any smaller than that any you risk a loose fit if the glass is running large and of course any larger and you risk it not fitting into the tube at all if the glass is running small.

Oh yeah, one other thing on our tanks that help prevent them from breaking is the custom rubber washer we designed into them. That flat washer that lays between the end of the tube and the cap means there is no way from the metal part to touch the glass part, this is very important when glass is in a potential impact situation.

Reading .0743 on the caliper or 18.87 mm. What do you think? Agreed that the metal on the SnP tank is an issue. That is the conclusion I finally came to on the last tube I chipped. The sleeves on the SnP can be removed but the tubes where so tight it made it hard to take the tank apart. I know height is not an issue but for reference a standard carto tube is measuring 1.078 in or 27.38 mm.

At 18.87 I would say they are close to optimum, better to be a little smaller than larger but you work with what you got. Chances are 98% of the glass with a 19mm ID will work fine as this is within what we normally see as drift. This is beyond the manufacturers spec so there is no way we can guarantee every piece to be above that but as most who have dealt with us know we are pretty good on the support end and will always take care of the customer.

Another thing to understand when we are talking about tolerances, flame polishing will reduce the minimal opening. What happens is the glass melts and curls over like a mushroom cap. We cold work all of our glass, this makes things a little rougher in the work end as you have to be able to cut and finish without chips that most polish out with flame but we have concluded that maintaining the manufactured annealing and tolerance is worth the tradeoff for the extra care in the cutting and finishing.

I think we could add it if it is confirmed for fit and finish, I suppose we would have to be clear in the description that it is not as large on the OD as the caps. If you want to try one out rather than buying the minimum of 3 on the customs you can purchase the Erlkonigin in the Other Tank Tubes and write in the notes the size needed and that you spoke with me here on ECF about it. Once you get it and confirm that it is appropriate for your caps let me know and I will add it to that category. That will save you twenty bucks or so over ordering the custom cut tubes.

Nah. Going to order the custom cuts tonight. Not worried about saving the 20 bucks. Just wondering about your thoughts towards it. When I receive I will try all of them to see how they fit and let you know. Hopefully they will fit and you will have another for your "Other Tubes". A win - win.

Thanks and we will continue this when I receive.

OCD,

Your 22mm x 1.5mm Tube has fit my SnP Tank very nicely. It is tight but not to tight. Just right if you ask me. Can tighten the tank down on the mod with no spin on the caps. Now this was a 23mm V2 SnP tank. Length was also good. Obviously it produces a shoulder from the SS caps but honestly I like that. And who knows, perhaps it can be figured as a bit of protection for the tube since it protrudes .5mm both sides. Very happy!

Thanks!
