All the talk about Subtanks has me thinking about getting 1 or 2. Got a couple of the Atlantis and they do good. But I really my other Kanger tanks. The only reason I got the Atlantis was because it came with a mod I bought. Haven't went for the Subtank yet cause then I'll need to get the coils - I know I can do my own in rba mode but I would want to have some prebuilt on hand. Maybe I'll do some window shopping and see if I can find a good deal.

And just because I thought about looking at the Subtank they have a new version coming out. From the little I've seen it's supposed to have a couple improvements and a huge 7.5ml capacity. Guess I might hold off on getting one. Bet there's a big price drop for the original.
Although I won an Atlantis, I didn't try it because I havn't had any luck with Aspire products. I've only been using Kanger tanks. The regular subtank is so huge, I don't see myself going for the new super one.

I don't like a real warm vape either...I'm disappointed it's not as good as the .5 coils.. It was going to be my next purchase but I guess everyone likes the .5 better. I thought the taste would be the same.
Warm is an understatement! I will try to build on it before I give up completely.

I got an Atlantis tank for free with a purchase, but no coils. Once I have the coils and a mod that can handle the tank I'll be testing it out. If I like it, I think I'm going to go for the Subtank mini since I've been hearing good things about it. I'm guessing I'll prefer the 1.2 coils over the .5

Give a couple days. I was bad and bought two subtanks (I figure I can always RBA if I don't like the stock heads). I've only used the 0.5 coil in one so far--when I get the time, I'll put the 1.2 head in the other and compare.

But, for now, I need to get ready to read to kindergartners. See you all later!

I have just been ignoring all of the subtank posts....I don't think my modbox could handle it and I seem to prefer my Unitanks to just about anything else....it seems kind of funny with .5 ohm's..I just don't think that's for me anyway...

I tried an Atlantis tank in a shop. Doesn't hold a candle to the Subtank. Of course YMMV. Even if it was as good, I can't se buying one. Especially not after I have added a Subtank Mini, a Rocket RTA, 2 RDAs, and a Lemo to my collection.

Thus from a guy that swore that coil heads were fine and I have no need to build or rebuild anything.

However, I am finding that I truly enjoy the fiddly nature of building. It's great to slap a new coil into a tank and know from the draw that the coil is too large or small, or that the wick is too thick or too thin. Tank tuning is fun! I can consider juices I never would have tried before...

And now that I've tried subohm cools on my mechs, I appreciate it more than I did when I couldn't fire them :) still not entering any cloud competitions...

Yet.

All of that said, I do think a puck mod would be a little underpowered...

1. Afternoon Treefam...a cold lazy Friday for me here today. Just found out that my son was home today and watched the mail person deliver our mail. She didn't even get out of her vehicle to come to the door to get a signature for my package...but on my tracking it shows as attempted delivery no recipient available for signature...she never even tried...I am so ticked! This is the second time that lazy you know what has done this...she just will not leave her vehicle for anything...almost makes me want to order something else that will require signature delivery so I can record her not attempting delivery at all! Ugh! :-x

Personal news... it's been a topsy turvy day. We lost one of our goat kids to a drowning accident. He fell in the trough and was too small to get out on his own. I now know what it feels like to attempt CPR on a goat. Then, the usps lied to me and my vapemail did not arrive. I needed something to cheer me up in the worst way... that's when my daughter called saying she had a job offer from a company in NYC. So proud, and a little jealous... she's making more at 28 than I EVER did. More per year than my farm cost...

Just think how much vaping gear I could get...

New York is just too big for this country boy. I visited once and left in a hurry.

That said, she's being smart about it. Her job is in the financial district and it looks as though she'll be able to acquire adequate housing for herself and the 3 grandkids. Good schools, short commute, etc. She already has a lot of friends from her worldwide speaking engagements, so she has some ins and connections.

Very proud.

Losing the kid was more than a little painful. He was a beautiful golden brown color and we don't have any of that... he was a he, too... would have been good breeding stock...

It was a good day, worked out twice and walked six miles and got some things done.

I had to quit working out after my second shoulder surgery, so I bought a bike. It didn't take long till I had my stamina up to ride 14 miles every day, and doing it in just over an hour. I hadn't been on a bike for probably 20 years, and I enjoyed it now as much as I ever remember. I'm really looking forward to trying it again this spring now that I have quit smoking.

Sounds like you may have someone who can support your burgeoning habit..? Sorry about the kid, though. :(

I've found that there are several things to get used to with a sub-ohm tank (Atlantis, Subtank, etc.).

First is the vapor--it is different than a standard tank. Yes, it is warmer, but that can be tuned with the power you put into it. Right now, I'm vaping at 2.8 volts / 12.5 watts with the 0.5 ohm coil. Set at the lowest airflow setting, it is giving me a similar experience to my aero mega. The vape is a little warmer, but it fires much faster--by applying slightly more power, I don't need to take such long, leisurely drags.

Second, the provided drip tip. The drip tip provided with the Subtank Mini is about twice the width and three quarters the length of the drip tip provided with the Aero. The drip tip with the Atlantis (and, perhaps, the larger subtank variant) is even wider. The extra width all but calls for a lung inhale, as the suction provided by a mouth-to-lung seems almost inadequate. The extra width with the Subtank Mini is akin to smoking a cigarillo; the width of the Atlantis drip tip is almost like a cigar. The extra width also disperses heat more efficiently--using the Aero drip tip on the ST Mini, I find that extended draws or chain-vaping heats up the metal of the stock tip faster than it does with the native ST Mini tip. I don't know if I will get used to the ST Mini tips--shorter and fatter doesn't seem to be my thing. Also, the longer, narrower drip tip from the Aero provides me with better flavor than the larger tip of the ST Mini.

Last is air flow: On the widest setting, the ST Mini (and Atlantis) are useless for mouth-to-lung. The medium setting makes mtl difficult, but not impossible, while the lowest setting is like the Aero set on it's highest setting. So far, I'm alternating between low and medium for my preference.

All of this experience has been with the 0.5 ohm coil. I'll crack open a 1.2 ohm coil shortly.

2. Shawn, sorry to hear about the kid...it's a sad fact of life on a farm, I know from growing up on one, but that doesn't make it any easier...Good new about your daughter though...I know you must be so proud!

Tiggs, congrats to you on the job offers...just don't be a stranger around here...we miss you when you're not around!

About the Subtank and the hot vape...I am vaping mine with the .5 coil on my iPV mini at 25W and the vape is not hot at all...it is a bit warmer than my other vapes, but nowhere near hot...maybe the type of juice makes a difference too, but I hate hot vapes too and so far I'm really loving what I'm getting out of this one.

Well time for dinner, fried shrimp, and a movie, The Judge...see you all later!
