5. It's definitely worth the 15 bucks LD! You don't need a big one or anything fancy. I lucked out and found mine on clearance for 5 bucks at a CVS. Its a 5qt standard rival with 3 settings, low, high, warm. That's all you really need. Totally a random purchase, but love it! I do lots of things in the crock pot and they all turn out great, my fav is chili.
The corned beef and cabbage was amazing this evening. Added celery, onion, carrots, corned beef with spice packet, and beef broth. Cooked on low for 6 hours, added cabbage and potatoes on top, continued to cook for 2 more hours (this is so they don't get mushy) and bam! done! It was fabulous. BTW: we are did a st pattys flashback dinner because we went to my moms for the holiday and she boiled it on the stove. Flavor was good but the veggies were mushy and the meat was dry and flaky. I had to do a "retake" so we could actually enjoy our once a year treat.

time and time again this thread reminds me of my desire to slowcook meats easily, inside, while i sit at work salivating.
im just gonna do it already, and get a cheap 15$ crock pot. only cooking meats for 1 & a 1/2 so doesnt need to be big.
for a while i was looking into the indoor smoker crock pots, but 200$ is not something i can afford to spend on the novelty, eventually i hope to own one, but my financial sitch would have to improve.. & it makes sense to test the slowcookedwaters first.
brisket, corned beef and pulled pork are some of my favorite meats (+ribs)
time to step up
(oh and senior RTS, welcome to helz-book)
