they make a great lunch when i am only home for 20 minutes each day on break. i put little emphasis on lunch (and breakfast) while im within the work week. but for 1-2$, and ready in 2min, cant be beat.
moderation comes to mind, but im not sure why
awww, only the NEW ones? nobody wants an OLD puppy!
woot! cant wait to see her/him!
my mother mentioned she is taking a trip to Utah(?) to get a little dachshund puppy. i think the profits from the motorcycle ride were earmarked for the tiny wiener-dog fund.
she already has 3.....(dogs)

5. Does anyone have any mechanical mod horror stories? Anything you learned from bad experiences?

OMG! Are we that obvious? That's exactly what I do! I've also been known to put students in small groups for 20-30 minutes and then we come back and they tell me they main points of the reading. . . I guess the jig is up!

I'm having one of those "I hate living in Puerto Rico" days.
I was completely shocked to return from my trip to discover that the electricity didn't go out the whole time I was gone (or the microwave would have said "0"). It's sad that something like that would surprise me, but the utilities are not always reliable. The electric company, I guess, is trying to make up for that by having a series of blackouts today. It was out for a couple of hours before I left to teach, but it came back on while I was gone. However, it's gone out three times since I got home! It wouldn't be that big of a deal, except that I have to completely reset my cable modem every time it happens. I'm starting to get very annoyed.

All this school talk has me thinking about my school/college days, especially the early ones. I had a few really good teachers but most were content to just go word for word from the textbooks and expect us to not question. I spent most of my high school days either asleep in the band room or sitting outside some class room door. The most challenging teacher I had was Mr Pitts. I didn't have to go to his class but he gave quizzes daily and a small test every Friday and I had to supply him with the 10 question quiz and answers and also the Fri exam.

Unfortunately, Joan, there are a lot of teachers/professors who don't put in much effort. I think they are in the minority, though. . . I'm thinking of those who never update their lecture materials year after year after year.
I don't give any exams in my classes. Instead, my students write papers. My life would be much easier if I gave exams, though, because grading papers is incredibly time consuming.
