4: If I am not mistaken it is called "Operation spring" and will be held May 16th. Just looked it up to be sure and yes that is it. Watch how the big news networks will not say anything about it, since they are owned by big corporations who pay big dollars to have their way.

Close enough . . . And - From the little I know and can research quickly . . .

It's actually being billed as "Operation American Spring" (based on the same principles as the "Arab Spring" was) scheduled for May 16, 2014 by a Conservative Christian (faith based) group called "Stand Up America" to more specifically oppose what they find abhorrent behaviour of President Obama and most of those in Congress that they disagree with.

Also - It was sparked by News Reports back on January 3, 2014 of President Obama's 2 pending executive orders to to expand background checks and regulate who can and who cannot purchase guns based on their mental health records in response to the Congress's inaction to do the same after - "Last year, the Democrat-controlled Senate rejected a proposal backed by Obama to expand background checks. The legislative push came in response to the December 2012 elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn. A shooting occurred earlier that year at a movie theater in Colorado. In both of cases, and in others, the accused shooters have had mental health problems." (Obama Administration’s Two Quiet New Executive Actions on Who Can Buy a Gun | TheBlaze.com)

I'm happy to change the subject, too, but I should have been clearer. Of course student protests have been a part of U.S. culture--but they're unheard of in the 21st century.

I've had a very blah day. I think I'm a little depressed. Nothing to worry about--when I feel like this it's generally for just a day or two. Part of the blah feeling, I think, is that I'm a little sore from pushing myself at the gym. I'm glad I took the day off from working out or I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get up in the morning.

5: I have to say it. At Sandy Hook, the Aurora theater, Columbine, the Navy yard, Fort Hood and Fort Hood II there is one thing in common. All are gun free zones, and bad people prey on easy targets.

Yes LD, that is the sad unfortunate reality of it

Thanks Unc for sharing your experience. Must have been a surreal experience.
I would like to think i would have involved myself. Ill leave it there.

as for future rallys, i may not. while i find it important to stand up, united, against the oppressive government and our disappearing constitutional rights. i joined in the occupy movement. which did nothing, but prove to me how helpless we are to initiate change.
there may be a time where the people had power, but that day is long gone. thoughts to the contrary are often naive and lack direction or application. not trying to be cynical, i fully support the movement, but results are far fetched. i find this to be demoralizing and makes me lack confidence in our country's future.

Yeah and whats really frustrating and aggravating is my SIL was just at the Texas ordeal when it happened and he is in reserves now. I think I would have been irate if something would have happened to him,not to mention what my daughter would have been going through being he was there on there 1st yr wedding anniversary serving OUR country. Something has to be done in this country. I feel it is only going to get worse before better as money gets tighter.

Doc,
dont worry I have them every time I join a new thread I sit and read and listen alot before I actually have any input.

That's a smart approach, I think, and one that I usually follow, too. But, I'm hardly new here! Actually, I've just had an "off" day. I didn't have much to say to my partner this afternoon when we talked on the phone.
