I'm going to take the kids to school this morning and hang around to watch the assembly since it includes the fruits of our volunteer labor. The subject is "Respect," but the other volunteer and I have been shown anything but by the school counselor who was supposedly the lead for the project. She kept us waiting for every meeting we had (half an hour once!), claimed ignorance on the use of presentation software she was going to use during her talk--prompting my fellow volunteer to create a Powerpoint example which the counselor then turned over to the school principal as "her" presentation.... but she's too shy to speak in front of so many kids, so could the principal do it?

Anyway... time for me to go!

2. Well, my day has turned to carp!! Car is giving me fits again, not wanting to start and then when it does, dying before I can get going...once I get going, it's okay, but only if I don't have to stop for the first minute! Almost got stuck at the courthouse this morning...took me almost 10 minutes to get it going...called my stepson, who's a mechanic, but he's working today, so don't know when he can look at it...just hope I can get it going when I have to leave work....looks like I might not make it to NOLA this weekend! Grrrrrrr!

1. Morning treefam. I slept in today. Went to sleep around 3am woke up at 10:30. Got a lot of sleep, still feel sleepy though.

I feel like crap, didn't get to sleep till after 5 and then slept till after 11. I hate when I do that, I feel like I'm in a fog.

Angel I'm going to have to bring my car to the shop also, my son used it yesterday and when he backed out of the driveway there was a big spot of transmission fluid in the snow. I just had the transmission rebuilt this past spring so I hope it's nothing major. I hate car trouble, but mine is still running. It's a definite PITA! What is NOLA?

Well, it's clear that the folks at the school have a different definition of the word "success" than I do.... but since they were happy with it, I'm not going to complain. And, yes Uncle, pertinent information was conveyed--and from what I could tell today, the principal is acting on it (though circumspectly).

I hope you can get your car fixed, Angel. It's amazing how helpless we become without them.

I am sorry that you didn't sleep well JPF...I guess you didn't listen to the radio a lot after Hurricane Katrina........NOLA=New Orleans, LA

Yes, cars can definitely be a PITA...I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have a mechanic in the family because I sure couldn't afford to keep fixing this thing if I had to pay all that labor! ...The only drawback is I have to work around his schedule, so I have no idea when he'll get to look at it.

Jpf- sorry to hear you're having car trouble too...I hope it's nothing serious....NOLA is New Orleans, that's just what we call it around here...that's where the bf is and where I go every weekend!

Well I won't know about the car until I have it looked at, right now it's just leaking, it's still running. After you said New Orleans I realized I should have known, I'm still not thinking straight today. I hope yours is nothing major.

Angel - Not sure of your financial situation and/or attachment to your car, but maybe it's time for a new vehicle? Your mechanic friends/family might be able to recommend a sound used car, then you could sell that one. Just a thought...

4. I'd love to get another car, but that is not an option right now...and this car is one that my bf bought for me to use....unfortunately after he bought it, we found out that the dealer had tampered with the mileage which is a federal crime...we are working on getting a lawyer who will handle the case, but so far no one really wants to because the car is not worth that much, so they don't see much money in it for them...my boss can't do it because she's not licensed in LA...that's why my bf doesn't really want to put a lot of money into fixing things because we are not keeping this car...as soon as we get things worked out we'll get me another one, but don't know how long that will take...I'm just hoping this one will hold until we can get that done!
