Mid-morning check-in. Looks to me like we might get a break in the rain around noon.

12/12 - 3: As an electrician liblue I am going to say get some LED lights, yes they are expensive. The upside is they will last 30 years, with a 20 year at 80%. They are durable and will save you 60/70% of electrical bills. I have started working my lights slowly to this area, and it saves money in the long run. $30 dollar electrical bill for the last few months, what?!?!? Yes, if you can stand a brighter light that is more like a spotlight, rather then the "flood" you can focus that light where you need it. tumbleweed.gif

Well peace and quiet finally reigns in the house again...just me and the dog right now, so I'm trying to get caught up on here while I can without being constantly interrupted.
But what about the puppies? Don't tell me a rock, a sack, and a boat were involved..?

12/12 - 4: How are you happy with the peace and quiet? I am not being rude or mean but asking a serious question. I need sound all the time, and this is something that hurts me so much with my family gone. If you do not want to answer her, can you PM me? tumbleweed.gif

Count, you are so bad! :p...No, the puppies are at home and my son is the one who has to worry with them for now...justified payback if you ask me, since he still hasn't told me that he got fired from his job yet...I'm letting him dig his hole on that one for a while! :glare:...I'm at the BF's and so here it's quiet, because he's at work and his mom is out shopping, so I'm enjoying not having anyone constantly jabbering in my ear right now! Don't get me wrong, I love her to death, but sometimes I just wish she would stop talking for a little while ya know! ;)

Tigg, I do know where you're coming from, and you know that you have my most heartfelt sympathies in that regard...I hope it doesn't make me sound selfish or anything, but honestly I have had people, either my family, the bf and his mom, or others around me constantly, and sometimes, I just like a little alone time...so for me having the house to myself is sometimes a relief. However, if I was in your situation, I suspect I would feel a lot like you do! Sending you some extra special (((HUGS))), just because I care!

Well, it's about time for me to head out to get my hair done...this blonde don't come naturally you know! :D:laugh:...See you all a little later.

Thanks everyone, what a day!

I woke up at 4am convinced that the river was going to crest 5ft from my door, later in the morning. I left for work, but only because of flooding, otherwise I would have stayed home. I left 30 mins early, but it took 2.5hrs to get there, so I was 1hr late!

Before leaving, I booted Catarina from the house. It was storming at this point. She was scared, confused and crying. Broke my heart! She almost ran under the bed, where I surely wouldn't have been able to get her. I drove away practically in tears with her getting drenched on my front porch.

After our morning of charity shopping and dropping off food, clothing and toys, we had a great lunch. It had stopped raining earlier. I was still gunna head North, when a neighbor texted me that the river had finished cresting at 11am, had only went up to 33ft and was actually going down! Which meant I could have stayed home, but no way to know that.
As many of you pointed out; better to be safe, than dead! ;)

I decided to head back home to be with kitty. So glad I did! She was on the porch waiting for me and there's tons of extra traffic because the main road is closed and the alternate route, which is only opened when it floods, comes right through our property. We are happily reunited and I will get to leave her inside tomorrow, when I head North for a regular visit with gf. :D

Totally exhausted, but safe and sound!

Robin, I'm glad to hear that you, your home, and your kitty are all safe! Hopefully the roads will be open for you to head north.

The storm here was more nuisance than dangerous, but then we were only on the tail end of it--nothing like what everyone north had. I didn't even have to wade out to the storm drain outside my house and clear it of leaves and pine needles (something I get to do every couple of years or risk flooding my garage).
