Yes, he got to open his presents last night (since it was his birthday), but we told him not to open the packages until tomorrow because we've been so busy. While he's a little bummed about the wait, his excitement has been building... kind of like us with the excitement of purchasing online and then waiting for vapemail. He also scored because he lost a tooth yesterday, so the Tooth Fairy gave him $0.50: a quarter for his first tooth and one for his birthday.

The "Cultural Feast" was amazing. There was so much food from all over the world--and it was all so good. It was fun to watch the kids dive in first: you could tell a lot by what foods the picked. Some were adventurous and tried tiny bits of everything. Others made a beeline for the food their parents brought. Still others started out with all desserts. And then there were the kids who only picked out the American cuisine (represented by grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs). I personally sampled Argentinian, Chinese, Czech, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Moroccan, Polish, and Ukrainian cuisines... and that doesn't count those dishes that failed to say which country they came from. The only problem was... no one thought to bring drinks. Still, everyone enjoyed themselves. We also have about 6 pounds of schnitzel left for a couple of dinners.

Home from work after stopping by the store to pick up a few things including the pork chops I'm going to bread and fry for supper!
I haven't even started regular retail hours yet but I'm beat when I get home. I will be working from 9:45 until 5:15 while I'm in training so nothing like regular retail hours.

Count your feast sounded great however being the picky eater I am I don't know how much I would've tried.

That was the beauty of the feast: there were so many things that one could eat as simply or as extravagantly as one wished. I'm sure you would have found something you enjoyed....

It's a good sign that you're tired when you get home. It's one more step to encourage you to sleep the night through!

Well, this is a milestone moment for my daughter and I. My little girl is officially a Girl Scout, a Daisy to be precise.

Gosh, they grow up so quick, soon she's going to want to start dating!

I'm trying something new, deep fried pork chops. My deep fryer is only big enough to do one at a time, the first one I cooked too long to make sure it was done all the way through but the second one came out really good.

Deep fried pork chops didn't work out. Cooking them long enough to get them done all the way makes them chewy, not long enough and their still a little pink.

Could you try a thinner cut? That should help the meat cook faster.

It could but the ones I had weren't that thick. I didn't think it would be much different than frying them in a pan with oil but they didn't cook all the way through by the bone. My guess is the pan dispersed the heat better. I'll stick to the pan.

Hope you don't have to play the evacuation game Robin - I did that in Nashville a few years ago when they had a big flood - not fun.

Thanks Mac, me too. Came home from work and half the units had evacuated! If it's required, it shouldn't be until Friday. It's hard not to get caught up in the pandemonium, but I'm gunna keep calm for now.
