Today in History
Today in history........
In 1908, New York City's Board of Aldermen passed an ordinance prohibiting women from smoking in public establishments (the measure was vetoed by Mayor George B. McClellan Jr., but not before one woman, Katie Mulcahey, was jailed overnight for refusing to pay a fine).

Yay for vape mail Bella. Lilblue stories like that always amaze me. So hard to believe people could be so discriminatory, I know, I know, many still are today, but we have come a long way. Someday people, everyone will be equal no matter sex, race, religion, sexual preference, or anything,,,, just equal.

Robin I can't be in any position for more than five minutes or so without pain increase. Drives my wife nuts cause even sleeping I will moan in pain and turn all night long. Have not found anything to relieve it except pills, but they keep me awake.

Well I was trying to find some good news to put in this post.....but there isn't any...........so....
In 1954, the first atomic submarine, the USS nautilus, was launched at Groton (GRAH'-tuhn), Connecticut (however, the Nautilus did not make its first nuclear-powered run until nearly a year later).

I wonder what would have happened had that ban been upheld. Perhaps it would have spread to other towns and cities. This might have discouraged half of the population from smoking... and that, in turn, might have discouraged the other half--the half that was allowed to smoke in public--from starting in the first place....

I can relate to the not being able to sleep.....I tossed & turned last night...someone left their bathroom fan on and it vibrates the floor...(this seems to be the worst downfall of living on the top floor)....so I got up this morning with a ache in my shoulder from trying to sleep with my hand under it...protecting it from the vibration....it also makes my muscles involuntarily spasm....so I twitched most of the night as well....I am not exactly sure what this is from...I initially though it was an oxygen type machine...also people putting box fans in the window.....rumbling so loud at night....now I am not sure...
I was hoping others here would have some uplifting posts...that always seems to help...but when no one had I thought I would try to be uplifting...I guess it didn't work...
