I've noticed that a lot of the
juice contests these days have been slow, lately.
I'd recommend a big one-time contest (if it works, I you can do it once a year or follow Nordstrom's example and call it the twice-yearly contest).
One thing that I've noticed is that contests for hardware will attract more people... especially when it's a popular or expensive prize. Perhaps have a one-off giveaway with a $30 mod (I'd recommend something like the iStick 30 Watt) or tank (subtank mini/nano) and some juice?
Another option would be to have multiple prize packages of juice. You could do a big one for first, a medium for second, and a smaller for third; or you could do the same amount for each winner. My suggestion would be to do a week-long contest, with a new, single winner for each day (allowing the pool to grow: for example, if someone only posts on day 1, they are still included in the candidate pool for day 2, etc). You could limit the number of posts per day (two, three?) and have a specific theme (funny trees?).
Both of these suggestions will pretty much kill the Treefam vibe, but if it is only for a week, I'm sure we can live with it...
Just some thoughts at 8:30 am.... take them for what they're worth.
