If there are two things I hate about home maintenance, it's electrical and plumbing.

I'm a fair hand at carpentry and glazing. Roofing, not so much (which is why we bought lifetime metal roofing).

But ours is an old house...

Today, I replaced a feeder line for the lavatory. Was actually not so bad.

Then I nearly electrocuted myself replacing a switch for the laundry room... I was sure I had that breaker thrown, but there's no diagram for a house this old...

Ouch...

Shawn there is an electrical tester you can get at Lowes. It is shaped like a Sharpie marker pen, get it close to electricity and it glows. I saw one being used by the people remodeling my kitchen last year and went and got one for about $20, worth it.

When I worked at the power company I had a few good shocks... go figure.

Turned into a beautiful HOT and muggy day here.

Peace

I used my multumeter. Unfortunately, the switch was damaged inside, so to ground wasn't. The wires were live when disconnected from the switch. I did TRY to be safe. I eventually just shut the entire house off for a half an hour.

This is like the one I got. Get within an inch or more of a live wire and it works. Don't have to touch anything and risk a shock.

Whoa Shawn, be careful!

A long and boring staff meeting took the wind outta my sails, but gunna get back to it now.

After work, I’m joining a local gym on a month-to-month basis. It’s $30 per month, with no installment fee or contract. That includes all classes, the pool and a hot tub! :thumb:

Have a wonderful evening folks!

Catch y'all later….

2. Had a great day hanging out with my husband. That man doesn't know how to be still and act like a slug. He kept me going all day doing stuff. I'm tired and ready to relax and watch TV for a while now. He'll be back at work tomorrow and I'll be back to being a slug.

I'm fine... just curled my hair.

I stead of calling my bathroom The John, I call it The Jim.

That way I can tell everyone I go to The Jim first thing in the morning.

And that, for the first time in several weeks, marks a full day of posts...

5/11 - 4: As an electrician I have been hit many times, it is no fun. The worst was at a hospital, they will not turn off the electricity obviously. A three phase 277 wild leg got me, not sure how long I was on the line; but eventually pulled myself off. It was like a disco ball going off in my head, and I have a permanent reminder on my left hand of the event for life. The next level up you can not pull out of, someone better be there to save you.

I told stepdot that if I hollered she was to come knock me back with a broom handle.

I hollered, and here she comes... no broom in sight.

I think she may have taken out a policy on me...
