Why don't people get/keep backups for their gear? Do they think one set up is going to always be there for them in a functional state?
There's this guy at work who had one mod (Hana) and one tank (Subtank). A month or so ago he broke the glass on the tank - I gave hive an old Smok tank and a couple coils to hold him til he could get another glass, tank or whatever - he was very grateful. He has a dripper but tanks are more convenient at times. Also informed him that it's a good idea to have backups and backups to those - for both tanks and mods. Seen him today and he say his Hana died - no mod backup - he had went somewhere local and bought a SUBOX - for $90.
He isn't hurting for bucks - dishing out $90 for something that can be found for $60 without even blinking shows that. He knows the benefit of having extras but I wonder if he'll do it now.
There's other guys there that do the same thing - one setup and when something happens they scramble and over pay to replace it. The funny thing is they're all IT and deal with the net daily - Why can't they take a few minutes and order stuff before it becomes an emergency?

Dang that was a long post for me - sorry for the rant.
I have redundancy down to an art. There are backups to my backup's backup. I'm never anywhere without at least 2 mods and 2 tanks and a spare bottle of e-liquid. I say "at least." Oftentimes, I carry three... I've become a real fan of my squonker, so I carry that, one tube mech, and one iStick. I have a 2 bay charger in my shop, and a 4 bay charger at home, and I carry a couple batteries, too. I ran out of juice once very early on and I had a battery die once very early on. When that happened, I had a cigarette and it was foul foul foul foul nasty awful gross. Never want to repeat that experience... I did get a craving about 2 weeks ago. When I was acting as a river guide, I refused to bring my mods on the raft, and one of the other guys lit up a cigarette when we got out of the water... smelled terrible, but I wanted one anyways. I did not have one, but... It proves I ain't wholly out of the woods yet.

That's funny you should say that Shawn it was just the other day, Sunday I think, that for some reason I thought I wanted a cigarette. I have not smoked for over 3 1/2 years. I didn't have one but the thought was there. I guess your never out of the woods.

4. I've too had those cravings recently and it's been over a year and a half since I last had a cigarette...the funny thing is the cravings didn't come when I was most stressed out even, but just rather out of the blue...I guess it just never really goes away. :?:

Good day to all. Just now catching on on the posts ..and startin on my 3rd cuppa joe...now for MY rant :D

Katz - Sorry the 5 min inspection cost you, but glad your water restored and the issue wasn't a more major expense.

..I think it was Tigg who said you don't miss something till it's gone ..(paraphased) ..truth that..this is the High Desert..water =life. Thank you everyone for the support.
@Utsuru.When I say well hole I meant I have a dug out in the ground that houses the well pump, electronics and piping access...the syatem is a closed system so there shouldn't be an issue with hanging a bag of moth balls or tossing a bug bomb in there now and again.

Why don't people get/keep backups for their gear?

heeheehee ..now THERE's an age old question, mac! Why do people do anything. I once knew some folks up in Alaska..lived off the grid...burned a wood stove for their only source of heat...and it gets minus 60 there ..sub zero for months at a time...They used a single chainsaw to cut their wood...didn't keep cords at the ready...just cut a tree as they needed it and burned it as they went along....and one day their chainsaw could run no longer and just rolled over and died...they survived with help from friends...but we're talking life and death here at 40 below...not being prepared always has consecquences...can't prepare for EVERYTHING so it's nice to get a helping hand in those instances....but getting bailed out by others shouldn't be a person's sole back up plan...To each their own..but I ..wouldn't wanna live like that... I'm with Robin...tough love.

My cat used to wake me up at 5am because she wanted outside. Lately, she wakes me up at 5am for no apparent reason!

....cats are creatures of habit! I used to get up at 2dark30 a.m for one job...and even after I no longer worked those hours, my cat..one in particular ..would still DEMAND that I get up and FEED her at 230 a.m. ...even on weekends!!...after about 2 year, she started slacking off (persistent creatures!)..and she no longer does that...I refused to get up to feed her at those times anyway :-x:evil: (tough love ;)) ...they get it in their head when breakfast is...and THATS THAT.

........ it's a swampy 97 or so here not including heat index, I'm guessing it feels like 105? ... I can vape inside in the A/C and laugh at the smokers sweating outside in the alleyway

yep..the many perks of vaping :headbang:

I refused to bring my mods on the raft, and one of the other guys lit up a cigarette when we got out of the water... smelled terrible, but I wanted one anyways. I did not have one, but... It proves I ain't wholly out of the woods yet.
..hear ya there, Shawn...and perhaps none of us ever ARE totally out of the woods....I keep a pack ( gettin to be a really OLD and gnarly pack!) of pipe tobacco in my glove box for just such "emergencies" ...I have a hand to mouth addiction that equals my nic fix and have found this "back up" plan..and I only need a little pinch in the cheek.. has saved me more than once from totally goin ape **** cold turkey when I'm without my gear.
...end of rant... ..here's a tree

Why do people have to put me in weird positions... I'm 27 and some of my "Adult" friends make me feel like I'm still in Highschool If you don't want to be with someone, don't be with them. Don't cheat on the person your dating and then tell me about it and put me in this awkard position because I'm friends with you and your boyfriend

1. Afternoon treefam. Been busy today so haven't had time to get on and get caught up. I'm felling so much better today. I can swallow without cringing now. :thumbs:Hopefully in a couple more days my throat will be all better and I will finally be over this junk.

It's so hot here today you feel like you are going to melt when you walk outside.

Angel, enjoy your new furniture. We were just talking about how bad we need a new living room furniture. Ours is about 10 years old and worn out and stained from kids.

I got home from errands this afternoon to find a police helicopter circling a couple blocks down from me. They were trying to say something over their loudspeaker, but no on can make it out over the sound of the engine. For all I know they were just playing a recording of the teacher from Charlie Brown--did as much good. And, after a few minutes, it flew away.

6/23 - 4: The same thing happened this afternoon while I was talking to the neighbors. We waved at them like "here we are" It must have been a person on foot as the helicopter moved out of its original circle and finally started moving to another direction.

I wear ear plugs to muffle her meowing and have tried tough love with her, but she licks me nonstop, puts her paw in my face and/or sits on my head! If I hide under the covers, she claws at me through the covers.

Have a terrific evening, everyone!

Catch y'all later...

Finally home and had some dinner, time to browse the forums. I hope no one melted out in the heat today, I can't tell you how nice it is to have my "smoke" breaks inside if I choose to. I'm looking forward to my first vaping winter. I use to go freeze my --- off out in the garage standing in front of a tiny heater when it's 20 degrees. Yikes, I won't miss that.
