This will be my first mod and I'm confused. Please help! Do I want a 510, 801 or 901?

Currently, I use 808's on KR808D-1 batts I got in my starter kit from SmokeTip. I am looking to order a 5v GLV. My intention is to hopefully be able to add the box device he is working on with the GLV-3. If that isn't possible I'm OK with that. But for right now I want to make sure I order what is best for now. I have extra 808's I could use with my new GLV or I can order something else. Doesn't matter to me. I have never tried anything else besides the 808's.

What I want most in order is:
1. Lots of vapor.
2. Flavor.
3. Something that last a long time with less effort. ( I don't want to fool with dripping constantly )
4. Throat hit I guess is next but not all that important.

It looks like 510's are very popular, but I don't know why? Like I said I have only used 808's. What I'd like see improve when I buy this GLV is more vapor, better flavor and a cart lasting longer if that's possible. I just don't have enough experience to know.

Any help would be Greatly Appreciated!!!

Thank you....

If by "something that lasts a long time with less effort" you mean battery life, the GLV2 will most certainly outlast any kr808 batts you currently have. However, 5V will burn juice up at a much faster rate and you need to be careful about what kind of carto you put on a 5V device. A V4L blank coolcart will only last me 2.5 hrs of heavy vaping before it needs refilling, with great vapor and flavor.(I would get double that if used on a XL kr808, but flavor and TH were markedly lighter). If the flavor I was using had good TH at 4.2-3.7V, it was even better with 5V but TH is also heavily dependant on the type of juice and nic content(menthol and cinnamon @ 36mg = STRONG TH). A 1.5ohm dual coil lasts 3.5hrs but flavor is sacrificed with certain juices. Other than V4L's coolcarts, which are about 3.5 ohm or Smoktech dual coil 1.5ohm(don't let the ohms fool you, these work differently than regular cartos), any other type of carto will burn easily, at least for me. I don't drip with my GLV2(and hardly at all on my kr808s for that matter) because it's too much of a PITA. Don't get me wrong, I love and use my GLV2 all day long, every day but it does have it's limitations, like everything else. Hope this helps!

Get the 901.Its made as a 510 with an adapter. You can use 510s or 808s and try a 901 atty to see if you like it for trying flavors.I love my 5v with 808s,they get hotter and juices taste a bit different. You have to get used to it.You also have to top off more often.

Ok keyzygirl,

So you are saying that if I get a 901, I can use it with 510's and the 808's I have? I know you like the 808's on yours. I have 808's and will still use them up on the KR808 batts I have. All these numbers just confuse me:facepalm: If I can use my 808's on the 901, and try the 510's and try the 901's that sounds great!! Problem is I am not really sure WTH I am talking about? Can you help me understand? Sorry I have sooooo many questions.....

I sooooo know where you are coming from GFish. I chose just ordering mine as a 510 simply because I picked a number and decided to stick with it some months back. I really had no idea what I was doing. It's confusing isn't it?
It's a prime example of internet information overload.

I will tell you this; you are in the right spot for a great mod. Took me many months and a great deal of money to finally get here.

Also, you are asking a great question. I would have ordered a 901 if I had known what Keyzygirl just said. I would have still used 510s (again, because I wanted to stick with one number and figure that out first) but with a 901 at least you have the ability to use your 808's...and then 901s or 510s down the road.

A 510-901 adaptor is a little metal piece you screw on. They are widely available from most vendors and will run you about 3-5 bucks, if purchased individually. Now that the newer GLVs come with the hex adjustment, you won't have to worry about the little problem I ran into, which was the adaptor pushed the brass connector pin on the GLV down too far. What that means for me is that I can't just take off the adaptor and use a 510 because it won't fire. The solution for me was to get yet another adaptor (901-510)and put it on top of the first adaptor. I know I can always send my unit in for repair/upgrade because Jay stands behind his products 100%. I've just been using the heck outta this thing and can't bear to have it out of my hands for 10 days, or however long it takes!

OK,all GLVs are made as 510,if you order a 901,its an adapter on a 510.So you can take off the adapter and use a 510 atty or put on the adapter and use it for 808s or a 901 atty.Know what I mean? Its a 510 with a 901 adapter. So you can use 510,808,and 901s.

Thank you!!! That helps clear things up. Now I just need to decide on color, clear coat or not and get batteries.

I know, right? It's complicated information what with all the numbers/connections/atomizers or not/volts/ohms/etc...blah blah blah... I am looking forward to getting one though.

Thanks...
