ok, so here it is. im still working out the warranty details, and options as far as color and LED ..ect. i can tell you that the 5v mod will not have an LED, there is just no room for it...sorry. im also working on having an option, so that you can have you name laser etched on the side for a few dollars more. pre-orders will be kept small, so that i can get these out as fast as i can. ill make updates very soon. btw the blue one will be ready on monday.

this button is a work horse and will last a long time. having said that, here's a pic for the modders, or anyone who wants to void the warranty, and replace it with your own button. i have left plenty of extra wire, and it is not connected to the button with solder.

iv had 5 people beating up on the prototypes for about 2 months now, and they held up very well. a friend of mine fell in the lake with one in his pocket, and it still worked!!

i would have been happy to beat one up for you. darn , snooze i lose.
anyway looks like a great mod, what batt's we use?
we need a name also, any idea's yet?
i can think of a good name----MINE :p
here is a link to the batteries for ya, and im calling it the GLV. DealExtreme: $3.19 Ultrafire LC 16340 3.6V 1000mAh Protected CR123A Battery
Heya Jaybird, the product looks great. I have been planning on buying a mod and I think yours is the one I want to pick up. Do you ship to Canada? If you do I will definately place a order.
i will offer shipping to other countries , but the shipping cost will be more.
what kind of price range are you looking at for the GLV?

edit to add: Oh... and I like the second writing style better. IMO the first style will wear off after a while, and the second style will last better.
looks like the 3.6v kit will be $95-$100, and the 5v kit will be $115-$120

Nice, I don't really like mods myself but this one has a nice rugged look I really like! I really want one (red with white LED would rock!) but I'm concerned about canadian customs. Last time I ordered from the US it got seized :S.

im a contractor , so i built this to be rugged....i break everything lol. im sure i can get one to you in canada with no problems.

Good to know! Since you do these by hand, would it be a problem building one with a 510 adapter? Also, the only other "mod" I've found attractive was the GG, and its pretty much only because of the nice engraving on it lol (I know I know but its just me :p). You mentioned laser etching, I'de pay extra for a small logo and my name etched into it for sure!

In any case I'm looking forward to this product. Keep us updated.

I like the look, and I want one, but here are a few thoughts, just my opinion:
It doesn't look very pocket friendly, I wouldn't be crazy about putting this in a shirt pocket.
It looks like you've given the atomizer a high leverage point, so it would be relatively easy to be able to break or bend the atomizer away from the battery case.
Your price point is competing directly against the Janty Stick (at least at the 3.6V), and their price is about 20 bucks less.

tmbrown,

dont worrie my friend the GLV is very pocket friendly. as a matter of fact iv been running around with one in my pocket for about 3 months. i hike, boat, work, and everything else with one of these in my pocket. a friend of mine had one in his pocket, when he fell in the lake, and it still works. iv had 5 people testing, and beating on them for a while now, and the atomizer is in no more danger of breaking off then it would be on any other PV iv seen. as far as price goes , im not competing with anyone. this is not how i make my money. i would have to sell alot of these to compete with my real job. im just having fun watching my idea come to life, and seeing it taking on a life of its own, and if i can make a little money while doing it... well how cool would that be? i promise this is a rugged well built PV.

I'm not trying to be a pain or anything, I'm just curious about the design decisions. Why have the atomizer extend so far from the battery case? Wouldn't more compact be better? A side-by-side (or nearly so), would reduce the overall length considerably. Is it a running the wires kind of thing? Having it outside the battery compartment is a great idea and I imagine this reduces (eliminates?) the risk of juice leakage into the electronics?

the cap and the atomizer connection are one part after the welding process. to make the the atomizer fit lower on the body i would have to make the cap longer. This would make would make assembling a lot harder. i also wanted a good space between your thumb and lip. As far as leakage goes there is no chance of juice getting into the battery housing or button. hope this helps.
