I'm wondering about their checkout, and all that.

This is listed in their rules

Market place at least

....... i would say go with godaddy...... but have a different hosting service...
domain through go daddy and host your own server on your PC.
or you can start your own name server...... somewhere in the ballpark of 2k to start

Godaddy is cheap and you get what you pay for, if your serious about e commerce you don't want generic hosting, I use Godaddy's Virtual Private Server to run my online store which is an extension of our brick and mortar store with absolutely no problems. Most people I see complaining about godaddy are using their cheaper shared hosting which get overloaded at peak times and can run incredibly slow.

Volusion is probably about the easiest to set up and use but not the cheapest. I have noticed a lot of the US e-cig vendors are using them

After power bills, hardware, and man hours it's cheaper/better to have someone else host it imo. If a problem hits you just call instead of spending hours trying to fix it.

Most internet providers will not let you do that unless you paying for business access, not to mention unless you know what your doing is incredibly unsecured.

Looks like Good Prophets host on Godaddy look at the bottom of the page.
I've seen several that have used them, but after all the setup fees blabalbalb there would be nothing worse than being kicked from the system. Just like paypal has done to countless people around here....

I like volusion they include everything you need I don't use them because we have 1000's of products and the price gets a bit high. With my current solution I'm paying around $300 a year. Volusion would cost me close to $2000.

I have seen at least 3 e-cig stores running on volusion, remember the price you see includes hosting and SSL.

I've had several terrible experiences w/ godaddy - you're fine as long as you stay with them and they don't decide to randomly shut you down - but if you try to move out or they decide to shut you down, good luck getting your hostname back. Think about investing time, money, and more time into getting a google ranking and having your domain registrar rake you over the coals and take over your domain unless you pay an exorbitant fee to them. Register on dotster or somewhere else and host your domain on a different site. Get a portable SSL cert from Verisign or Comodo that you can move to any site that will provide hosting for any domain, rather than inextricably tie your business in to somebody who might decide they're better off getting your traffic.

Have to agree you should register your own domain, make sure you own it, then no one can take it from you unless you fail to renew it. Which is how I got one of mine the previous owner didn't renew it and I was able to register it. Some places offer a free domain name with hosting do your homework and find out who will own the domain you or the host. If you own it there is nothing godaddy or anyone else can do to keep from moving it to another host.
