waiting for my e-cig to arrive, such a long wait :(
ordered my volcano on monday still hasnt arrived, and usps has the worst tracking system ever! really hope it comes tomorrow otherwise ill be sol for the weekend. my biggest reason for switching from analogs is this FSC junk they put into them causing me problems (copper taste in my mouth and bad dry mouth) so i have to go looking for rarely bought brands to find some without it. anyways, jus hoping this whole e-cig thing works out well so i can jus quit them analogs all together

I saw this thread topic and had to come see! I'm going crazy as well, but for a different reason.......

I received my first e-cigs a couple of hours ago. I ordered the 510 disposable starter kit. Excitedly tore up the package, and began to assemble. WTH? I can't get it to work! All I've done for 2 hours straight is attempt to vape, and I smoked my last analog the moment my package arrived!

PLEASE someone tell me what I am doing wrong? My cartridge has one end that is whistle shaped and has some sort of clearly visible. The other end is round with a tiny little black hole. I've been inserting the whistle end into the atomizer. Its the only way I see that it will fit. Is this wrong? Does the battery that comes in the disposables have to be charged before vaping?

Thanks soooo much for any help, and it's okay if you want to make fun of me. I'm laughing at myself and feel totally ridiculous.

Check that the foam is moist - I'm assuming the cart (that part with the foam) is pre-filled. If not, you will need to use some juice... did it come with a bottle?

You can use tweezers to remove the foam; the place where it is is the reservoir where the juice is kept (usually about 90% soaks into the foam right away). The slots on the side of the box shape where the foam is packed are the air slots; they meet just under that little hole on the outside end.

When you put the box and foam up against the grayish netting in the atomizer, juice wicks into the netting (nickel wire, I believe it is made of) and comes into contact with the heating element. This vaporizes the juice and the vapor is drawn back up those slots next to the foam when you suck on it.

If this is a disposable, the battery should be charged - I'd think. Did it come with a charger? If so, screw it into the charger and look at the LED on the charger - it should go from green to red if the battery needs charging. If it does, wait until it turns green then put it back on the atomizer and try again.

Thanks so much Harry!

The foam does seem moist. It did come with a USB charger but not like those they make for the non-disposables. This one does not have a green light, or any light. When I first plug the battery into it, the blue LED does blink 1-3 times, but those are the only times the LED comes on. It came with 3 cartridges, pre-filled. It didn't come with e-liquid but I bought some anyway, following the advice of my brother who vapes.

The disposables must be different somehow, 'cos my brother can't figure out what I'm talking about either. I'm tempted to get in my car and drive the 45 miles to his house so he can show me. (And I will if I don't get it working very soon. lol).

I agree with you posters about USPS. I was tracking mine and it said it hadn't been picked up yet. It arrived in my mail about 20 minutes after I last checked with USPS. haha.

The whistle tipped end is the side you "smoke" from - the other side (the one where you can see the filling?) that is the side you insert into the atomizer :)

It's OK - it's confusing at first. I'm not familiar with the disposables, so I'm not sure either if the battery is fully charged...

And - like the person before me said - make sure the filler material inside the cartridge (the piece that gets pushed onto the atomizer) - isn't dry. It should look wet/"slushy".

Good luck!! keep asking questions if you still can't figure it out :)

Remie -

Thanks so much for helping! The thing is......my whistle tipped end IS the end where I can see the filling. It is a grey, wet, and has an appearance of batting/foam. The other end of the cartridge is round and flat. It has a tiny black hole. I can remove this part which then has the same tiny hole, but is indented, iow, it isn't flat at the round end once i remove the tiny little end cap. Oh, I feel soooo dumb! I'm sorry to be such a pain.

Am I making any sense?

Argh.....and THANK YOU!!!

It sounds like you are describing the ends of the cartridge backwards

The flat part with one small hole in the middle of the end is the "whistle tipped" end of the cart. The rectangular end is the end where you can see the cart filling - the part that holds the e-liquid.

Are you sure it's a 510? Are you sure they are "whistle tipped" cartridges? I feel dumb now  - let me post a picture of one of my whistle tipped carts...

Sorry for the crappy photos, I snapped them on my cell...

This is the end you smoke from - the "whistle tipped" flat side, with the hole in the center:

This is the side with the filler material that attaches to the atomizer:

I'm not sure if that helped  ??

Hi Remie,

It has taken me a while to find your post. Sorry about that.

I'm still struggling here....having company for the Super Bowl and was hoping to share my PV and the experience with my smoking guests, so I'm still trying.

I must have the ends confused! You're right. Geesh, I don't have a clue how you figured this out, but I certainly appreciate that you did! LOL.

For some reason, I can't see pics you said you posted. Are they here?

I've discovered a couple of things since my last post. If I wrap electrical tape around the area where the cart fits into the atty, I can vape! Also, if I try to vape without the cartridge attached, the LED lights and there is a lot of vapor. I'm assuming (not necessarily a good thing for me to do here ha) this means that my atomizer and battery are good, right?

Thanks soooo much! (Now I know how to follow this thread. I was waiting on email notifications before, and didn't get any, so assumed no one had commented here.)

Remie, I can see your pics now! YAYYY! I'm trying to send you pics but can't because I don't have enough posts to attach a URL and I guess copy and paste won't work?

Anyway, from what I can tell, your cartridge looks exactly the same as mine on the end that shows the filler, which is the end I was referring to as "whistle tipped." But your first pic, showing the end you smoke from is shaped differently than mine. Mine is round.....? Maybe 'cos I have the disposables? Neither of your ends look round to me. Is the end of your atty that your cart attaches to round? Mine is and I can't get my cartridge to fit into it snugly. It has ridges that keep it from doing so which is why the tape I think worked?

I am so sorry to be so darn confusing! I know I am making something simple....very complicated. So far, not setting a good example for my hubby who I was hoping to convert to vaping..... lol

I remember the days of stalking the mailman! The USPS tracking is a joke. I don't even bother to look at it anymore.

Welcome to the forum and good luck!

:)

The disposables come with either whistle tips or round tips - luck of the draw as to which one you get. It sounds to me as if it is working when you don't have the cartridge on so... did you try another cartridge? It is possible that one of them is defective. Also, it sometimes takes a while to break in the atomizer. AND... you might want to start your own thread with a title related to what your question is. Chances are you would get more help that way.
