ok, so im considering a 5v box mod. ive used nothing but a joye 510 so far and i cant deal with the short battery life anymore. ive been vaping 70/30 pg/vg and its fine at 3.7 for the most part but id love to get more flavor and vapor out of it. im happy with the TH at 3.7 with my juices, so im wondering if i switched to 40/60 pg/vg if that would provide a similar TH at 5v. i also want to use less PG because at times its harsh on my throat and leaves me dehydrated. also, would i go through more attys at 5v? thanks guys.

Keep in mind that an eGo (or Riva) is not really 3.7 either, but it should be a substantial improvement over your 510 in terms of battery life and performance. Pair the eGo with a good low resistance atomizer and you will get a very satisfying vape. I am fond of both the 306 and 510LRs from avidvaper.com. Personally, I prefer the 2.0 ohm atomizers to the 1.x, but many people like the hotter ones better.

The problem with 5V is that there aren't that many atties out there designed specifically for it. An atomizer in the 2.5-2.8 ohm range would be ideal, IMHO. Those HV atties that are 3.5ish really provide a pretty muted vape at 5V, at least for me. They are much, much better at 5.7-6.0V.

Standard resistance Joye 510 atomizers hit like a truck at 5V and provide a very nice vaping experience, but at only 2.3 their life at that voltage can be cut short if you don't keep them consistently wet. On the other hand, they can be found very cheap if you shop around. Vaporkings sells branded 10 packs for around $45.
