A beginning 5V device?

Hey everyone,

Ive been vaping around two years, and like to consider myself quite experienced. Ive been toying around with the idea of going from 3.7V to 5V vaping.

Ive got to admit, Im ok with the prices of 5V mods, but concerned im going to invest a ton of $$$ for something that I may not like.

I am a 510 ego user so I would like to stick with 510 attys.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a reasonably priced mod thats capable of 5V?

greatlakesvapor has the GLV for 95 bucks, there are some reviews on youtube and on their site I think, this may be my next purchase. They also have a forum section on here.

You can build or buy a 5V box mod for a fraction of the price of a GLV. You can get all the parts from Madvapes for less than $10, and it will perform exactly the same as a $100 mod. If you're not sure 5V is for you, this is the smart way to go.

If you just want a good solid 5v pv, get the glv. its nothing amazing to look at, but it performs flawlessly.

I would second (or third, however many people said it) the "build your own cuz its cheaper" mentality...but I can't imagine you would have to drop 100 bucks just for a 5v mod unless it had some serious features or style.

In the last month or so a new generation of 5v devices has started to come onto the market with voltage regulation rather than a resistor to absorb some of the power the batteries are putting out. If done right, this will make for more efficient use of the battery's charge.

I just started vaping 5v myself, though I went the cheap route and got a $15 passthru from madvapes. 5 Volt 510 Manual USB Passthrough

Also got one of these to go with it, to help make sure I'm getting 5v... 2 amp AC to USB Adapter, ideal for Passthroughs

So far I absolutely love this thing, HUGE difference from my eGo/510's. So much vapor and sooo warm.


It is a passthru though obviously, while for me having to plug it in isn't a big deal cause I'm home alot of the time. I'm going to look towards a 5v pv of some sort here soon. If You ask me though, no better way to see "if" You like 5v than to make a small $15 investment, rather than sinking big bucks into one.
