Not sure why but this report of smoking reduction of 1% in France hasn't gotten the attention it deserves.
Like me you may wonder what's so special about a 1% reduction but this is 1% of the total population, that's about 6% of smokers. What's most gratifying about this is that this drop is credited specificity to ecigs.
Carl Phillips gives a good disection of the report here;New French representative survey: 1% of the population has quit smoking thanks to e-cigarettes | Anti-THR Lies and related topics

So go on, tell me about no evidence they help people quit Stan? :D

I was just looking at the no. of smokers US chart today. There was a precipitous drop from late 1990's to @2003? - the whole second-hand smoke thing and the wake of it.... and then it flattened out for several years - 2007 being an exception - lower - then popped back up for 2008 and 2009, then dropping 4 years in a row. I know the first biggest 'expansion' here at ECF was 2009 and rocket membership ever since. That drop from the 22-23% to the 18-19% could very well be ecigarettes. But..... only 'circumstantial' evidence.

Big pharma will claim their products - but most of them were around since 2003 and beyond. It's 'what changed?' is the key. Unfortunately, if they continue to clamp down on ecigs - 'what changed' may not be as apparent - maybe that's what the big push is right now. They have 'internals' that might indicate that it is ecigs and they don't want that to be the reason. (I know - 'conspiracy' ... but just thinking out the possibilities ;- )

Even Catherine Deneuve vapes nowadays.

For those of you old enough to remember who Catherine Deneuve is. ;)
