I could use a little support today. I haven´t had a cig in 38 days after smoking for 40 years. I was smoking 2 and half packs a day. Now I am doing about 5 ml a day at 18 nic. I think that is unbelievable.

Recently family members are finding out that I am not smoking. They think it is great that I am not smoking but are saying "when will you give up the vaping" and things like that. It kind of dampens my enthusiasm a little. Any thoughts?

I used to ge that too and I said to them when I am ready and probably never :) don't let them steal your Thunder, you are doing fabulous !!! Keep up the good work and vape on :) :vapor:

Thanks, that is what I need to hear. I don´t want to go on vaping forever and ever but the damage reduction (and monetary) of the past 38 days I still can´t believe. It is night and day.

Just wait until you start realizing how much $$ you are NOT spending on cigs. Get yourself a ticker to keep track. It's the most amazing part of my quit. Maybe not the most, but high up there in amazement :) I maybe don't save thousands $$ but at least it ain't going to BT ant more !

I had an ok ticker but I changed computers and lost it. That is how I lost the password to my previous account here. I couldn´t recover the password because I entered my email incorrectly when I started with ECF.

Anyway, could you recommend a good ticker (program) that works with a pc? I don´t use a smart phone.

Thanks

Yeah, my family are all non smokers and I'm sure they all see my vaping as just a switch from one evil to another. While they are supportive, I know that all their limited knowledge about vaping is based on the propaganda that is publicised all over the place. It can be lonely when you don't know any other Vapers personally to share the experience with.

As for the cost? I'm blown away! I don't suffer from shinyitis so after a year of learning how to rebuild and DIY my own juice,I can literally go for months on end without spending a penny on my vape!

@dan040 - Sorry this is long, but I sense you need some more support and backup here! You're not alone regarding comments from others who are ill-informed!

You keep on vaping and feel very proud of yourself for giving up the smokes! I have family members who ask me similar questions to what you're getting, too.

The funniest, or most hard to believe is one of my older brothers. He quit his 45+ year habit of 2 1/2 PAD cigarettes...cold turkey about 8 years ago or so. But, he just went to smoking cigars instead! Now, as of about 2 years ago...he doesn't even light them, but has 1 in his mouth almost constantly...gnawing on it, trimming it, etc., then gets a new one and starts all over! Now, tell me if I'm wrong, but he's still getting a ton of nic from that cigar, and has greatly increased his chances of developing cancer of the lip, cheek, tongue, etc., too. Right?

Well, when I quit smoking with the help of vaping 2+ years ago, he was all for it...told me it was great. But for about the last year...his question has always been, "OK, so when are you going to stop that vaping? I thought the whole purpose of it was to help you quit smoking, and then quit vaping, too?" I just tell him, "I don't know if I'll ever quit vaping. I have no desire to! I love it, I'm saving a bunch of $$, my health has greatly improved (and that's documented), and I know I'll never go back to smoking. Besides, I don't run the same risks vaping as you do for the various cancers YOU may get from those nasty cigars you gnaw on all day long!"

He also knows I'm taking part in Moffitt Cancer Center's 4 year long, $3.6million, study on e-cigarettes! They're trying to find out and prove if e-cigarettes can/should be deemed a NRT just as patches, gum, inhalers, etc. are, and how effective they are in helping people to quit smoking! I remind him that I doubt seriously that medical doctors would have study participants vape various eliquids, using various hardware, at various nic levels...and blowing vapor clouds right in front of them...if it was anywhere near as harmful as the cigarettes we both used to smoke, nor the cigars he still uses daily!! That usually shuts him right up! :D

My other brother (who quit smoking 5 years ago), likes my eliquids smell, and is totally supportive of whatever it takes to keep me off the smokes! Of course, he's also the most level-headed, less opinionated brother.

Friends are 100% behind me with my vaping, and I've even helped several of them switch to vaping from smokes themselves. They all, without exception, much prefer the smell, and haven't even asked if/when I'll quit vaping. They figure it's none of their business, and are just happy for me that I finally found something to kick the smoking habit ater doing it for 42+ years!

So...you hang in there, and do what YOU know is the best thing for you! It's not their choice, their concern, nor their money or health at stake...whether you vape or not. It's only your own!

When I quit smoking and started vaping, in a month I felt 10 years younger :) No one can take that away!
