I've really avoided getting in to rebuilding because I just want convenience. All of my set ups are all about convenience like I won't buy any mod unless it has a micro USB charging port cuz I just don't want to jack with all this stuff, I just don't want to smoke and it has been a year since I did. I want plug and play and grab and go. I held onto my protank II for a long time because the single coil atomizers were cheap. Now I just got the istick 30 and got a Subtank Mini to go with it but the atomizers are considerably more expensive and it comes with a rebuidable so I'm probably going to give it a try. I'm not poor and I'm not rich so I'm just doing ok and I'm make enough that I can pay for convenience so I tend to do so but I also don't like to waste money. So I'm just kind of curious where you "I just don't want to smoke but I don't want to put a lot of effort into vaping" people stand on buying vs building? How much annoyance does building add to your life considering you can just spend like $18 a month or two and not have to do it?

personally I like to rebuild. Rebuilding gives you the flexibility to try different things.
I have several kayfuns and a sub tank plus some drippers. Some people are surprised that someone as old as me would rebuild but I've always liked to tinker with things. Before you try rebuilding I recommend that you watch some videos on youtube for the sub tank.

I'm kinda in the same boat with you aron, but I also like to tinker with stuff in general. I also just ordered a Subtank Mini, but havent got it yet. I figured I can use the prebuilt heads for convenience, but I want to start experimenting with the RBA section too. The RBA can probably save me some cash in the longrun if it isnt too much of a PITA.

Building really isn't all that difficult, and once you figure it out you can disassemble, rebuild a coil, wick it and be vaping in five minutes. Pre built coils are a nice convenience, but I've never been able to match my vape in terms of flavor and vapor production with a pre built coil, plus you can get a year's worth of rebuilding supplies for less than what you'd spend in a month on pre built coils

I have the sub tank mini and I didn't really care for the stock coils so I rebuilt those as well as the RBA deck and I was getting annoyed because I couldn't get the .5 ohm coils using 26 gauge Kanthal which is what I assumed they had used for the stock coils. I compared the stock wire diameter to all the diameter Kanthal I had and it matched the gauge but when duplicating the number of wraps it came out .73 ohms so I'Ve come to an interesting discover I pulled out some 26 gauge Nichrome wire and shazzam we have a winner .5 coil on the button. so tonight I got creative and made a 28 gauge parallel coil 4 wraps on the trusty little blue screw driver and .4 ohms with organic cotton wick the flavor is outstanding. so if you are going to rebuild use Nichrome for your coils as I believe that is what Kanger is using I just found their wick job to be a little lax as I was getting quite a bit of flooding.

I got a sub tank mini because it has a rebuildable option and now I could use some guidance. I've discoverd in 4 months of vaping that I want the best vape I can get at 8-10 watts most of the time. My IPV 2s has minimum voltage of 3.6 volts so I can't go down to 8 watts with the .5 ohm coil that came with the mini rba. So what do I need to do to optimize for 8-10 watts?

I like the cost of rebuilding and always having a fresh coil and wick. I use kayfuns as they are easy to rebuild, and I like how they vape. I do like to keep my rebuild time down to a minimum. What I do is I prewrap a bunch of micro coils in a go.. Say around 20 or 30. This lasts me months. Also I don't like messing with the wick that much, so I just use sugar and cream cotton yarn I got a Michels. I boil up a bunch of that for 20 minutes in bottled water (cause it tastes horrible otherwise), wring out the water really well and then nuke it in the microwave for a minute or two to dry it. Then I cut that up into small strips. When it's time to recoil, I just grab a piece of yarn, and a prebuilt coil and I have it over and done with in no time.

I like to vape at 9 to 10 watts, on a coil between 1.5 to 1.7 ohms. I use 30 gauge Kanthal. That setup would probably work for you.

Just check out a Vaping Watts/Volts/Amps/Ohms Calculator! A very necessary tool for a vaper, especially if your rebuilding! I got the SubTank Nano Today in the Mail, it's quite nice. I'm not super into rebuilding at this point and wanted a small form factor, so this was a good way to go for me.

You just need to input two of the 4 and it will fill it in for you..!
