I know some people are all "I use Rip Tripper's method on the new deck and it's fine" but I think it's totally unsuited for the V2 deck. The whole point of that pancake wicking method is to leave open space for the tiny
juice channels on the old deck. With the new deck and it's big mid-chimney
juice holes I think you for sure need to get those covered with cotton, just not suited to pancaking. Not a ton of cotton, but it needs to be laying across those holes. If you're doing a vertical coil I'm guessing you've got plenty of cotton in there already, you just gotta make sure it's over the holes.
