After three years of vaping I finally upgraded from basically a pen vape to the eVic VTC Mini. Holy cow! What a difference. I'm so glad I made the leap.

I'm still figuring things out with the device, so I've pretty much left most of the settings alone. However, when I first starting using it it the nickel coil was registering at .21 ohms. I've used it one day and now it reads at .19 ohms. Is this normal? If so, will it continue dropping? I've already noticed a drop in vapor production after one day.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My wife got one last week, and strangely her nickel coil did the exact same thing. She had used it for a couple of days, but it seemed to soon to have to be replacing the coil, especially considering her moderate wattage and temperature settings.

So, I unscrewed the coil from the base and re-tightened it. It read higher again, like it did originally, so I re-locked the resistance and it started performing again.

I think we will be trying the "rebuildable" CLR coils soon. She hasn't tried the Ti coil yet.

I tried retightening, but it's still reading at .19. I've tried locked and unlocked. Same thing. I really hope this thing doesn't go through coils that quickly. You can't rebuild these and I've been rebuilding EVOD coils for the past two years and haven't had to spend a dime on them. I haven't tried the Ti coil yet either because I read they give harsher hits, but it looks like I might have to be trying it out soon. :(

It was my understanding that the Ego One "CLR" coils could be used in this tank and they are made to be serviceable/rebuildable. My wife manages a vapor shop and she's going to bring some Ti "CLR" heads home to try. I've had pretty good luck with wrapping 28ga nickel, so we'll see how it goes.

Please return to this thread and let me know how it goes. Would really appreciate it. Everything I've read says that they can't be, and they look crazy intricate, but never underestimate the craftiness of us vapers.

@slgshane

Tonight I rebuilt a "CLR" head for the first time. I used 28g Nickel, 8 Wraps, on a 2.4mm screwdriver. I think you could go to 2.5mm and still have your bit sit in the wicking slots while you secure the coil leads. It's just like rebuilding a Protank head, only easier because the coil head is larger and easier to work with. It also has an adjustable ring at the bottom to adjust the size of the wicking slots to your build.

I'm sorry I didn't take photos....my wife was waiting to vape it. ;) It's working great so far. I told her to pick up a few more, so she can have some spares handy.

I've rebuilt CLR coils you don't have too much room so don't try to go crazy building parallel coils I usually stick to single coils and check your insulators after every rebuild, last thing you need is a short on those. Don't expect the coils to be anywhere near as good as the pre-made bought coils but that's usually the case with rebuilt heads although they save you alot of money so it's completely up to you.
